Today, I’m excited to announce that I am a member of the 2014 Viator Ambassadorship team. Excited because as a world leader in tours and experiences, Viator is a brand I’ve enjoyed partnering with and freelancing for since 2012, and a bit proud too — because it’s an honor to be asked to represent a brand you love!
For me, this ambassadorship is a natural extension of the great...

As part of my new site design (fingers crossed for a launch by the end of February!) I’m adding an FAQ page to Alex in Wanderland. Remember how I mentioned recently that after four days offline, I returned to 270+ emails? Lately I worry the quality of my replies is declining as a result of the quantity. I feel like when I come to the third email in a row asking me for blogging tips, that third person...

The following post is sponsored content written by me and brought to you by One Kings Lane and the Luxury Collection. Partnerships like this help keep me on the road — thank you for your support!
Is there anything in life better than a road trip with the right partner in the passenger seat, a great playlist on the sound system, and wide-open days ahead of you? I can’t think of much. Okay, maybe...

When I launched my reader survey in September, fellow bloggers told me I’d be lucky to get 100 takers. Imagine how blown away with love I was by the over 300 thoughtful, detailed responses I received. It took me a while to compile this post as I wanted to start to implement some changes first, in order to show you how seriously I take your feedback. Appropriately, today is my birthday —...

I am dreaming of sunshine as I sit and write this post bundled under blankets and sweaters, waiting for the 70 degree heat the weatherman promised me today to appear. While I do love the fall I am a summer girl at heart and I am holding onto every last delicious moment of the one that is currently fading away. And what better way than to gift one of you with some of my favorite seasonal summertime...

Google Reader, my beloved tool for keeping up with favorite blogs, is going the way of the travelers’ check (or the dodo, as the more traditional saying goes). On July 1st, Google Reader will shut down for good.
My stats tell us that many of you choose to follow Alex in Wanderland’s RSS feed via Google Reader — more than 250 of you, in fact. Let’s wipe our tears and talk options.

So, you know what makes a trip to Hawaii extra fun? Having your website — your main source of income — hacked so that 500 pages indexed by Google contain offensive pharmaceutical ads!
Many months ago I received an email from a reader asking why there were Viagra ads on my site. I replied that there certainly weren’t any that I approved and asked where she saw them exactly. I never heard...

As the car pulled higher above sea level through the hills of Colorado, the lack of oxygen made the jokes of my fellow travel bloggers even more hilarious. After a few days warming up in Denver, I was so ready to try out this whole travel blogging conference thing. TBEX is the first of its kind. What started as a small gathering of bloggers one year in Chicago had transformed four years later to an...

When I planned my visit home in March, I was extremely happy to realize that my visit would coincide with the New York Times Travel Show- an event that I thoroughly enjoyed last year. But what a difference twelve months makes! Last year I was still struggling to move my blog to a self-hosted site and decide on a blog name. This year I had business cards and a press pass. Shazam!
The event started...

If you read as many travel blogs as I do, then surely you’ve seen the ABC’s of Travel internet meme. I’m all about jumping on fads (exception: Ugg boots) so of course I was super excited to be tagged by Arienne and Tristan of See You Soon. Answering these questions was fun because they reminded me of some long forgotten travel memories, but un-fun because they forced me to once again out...
