I support my travels by working on the road — how I afford this is a frequent question. Here is where to find some of my work around the web:
Writing and Design
This blog is a virtual portfolio of my writing. Digitally I have worked as an editor for Lost Girls World, a freelance writer for Eagle Creek and a graphic designer for Gadling, among other positions. Please contact me about writing and photography opportunities!

I work as a freelance designer for clients around the globe. You can see my work for the prestigious travel site Gadling here. I featured some of my travel related projects in this series. You can see some of my work at Alexandra Baackes Design. Please contact me if you are in need of help with a project, big or small!
Photo and Video
In the past, I have worked as a photographer’s assistant in Grand Cayman, as well as an underwater videographer in the Cayman Islands and in Thailand. Today I work for companies like Tripfilms to produce original travel video content.
I sell advertising on this blog, work with sponsors, and occasionally consult with brands and destinations. You can find more information here.
Along the way I’ve worked as a bartender and a babysitter, handed out flyers for three dollars an hour and returned cans for five cent deposits. Whatever it takes to stay on the road!
