Right? Also: I miss planes. Sigh.

Ha, I actually have a lovely memory of flying a similar airline in Laos, where they even gave me a hand-written baggage tag! I still have it somewhere… so charming! And in Belize, I have a distinct memory of my cab dropping me pretty much at the plane, haha. The “airport” was a shack that I never even entered, I don’t think. Ah, I miss travel!

I flew a paper airline once in Burma! It had none of the pain of your wild goose chase but I’ll never forget the guy in the trench coat and dark glasses who showed up on a motorbike at my hotel to hand-deliver the tickets!

It was really the wild west. We were allowed to go back and forth through security without getting re-checked & hang out on the tarmac while very nearby planes took off & landed. An attendant even yelled at us at one point to get out of the way, lest we be flattened!

I sat next to a monk who reclined diagonally in his seat, happily resting his bare feet in my footwell. He spoke to me once to ask if I was Italian and when I answered, “Canadian,” he grunted with disgust and didn’t utter another word for the rest of the flight.
