This was definitely a fun few dives to shoot! More underwater shots coming up from The Dominican Republic in a bit 🙂 (Though nowhere near as great as these, to be honest.)

Yes, still diving with the Canon G7X! And yes, Amanda was diving with a GoPro dome on this trip — I linked to it in my birthday post.

The dive mask thing is sooo tough. First I take a lighter and burn the inside of mine. There’s this protective coating you need to burn off. Then I scrub with an abrasive toothpaste and leave that overnight for a night or two. If it’s still fogging after that, a few days of Coca Cola soaking (not kidding!) Finally, I use Stream2Sea’s defog. So, quite the process haha. I hope that helps!

Yes, did a two tank Vanderberg dive! You have GOT to dive the Thistlegorm in Egypt — it earns its reputation and truly is the coolest wreck dive in the world.

A couple of questions about the diving. Is the Canon still your go-to dive camera? (I feel like I remember reading something about you taking a course and using a strobe, but can’t remember if that was still with the Canon.) And is that thing in the dome in a few of the pictures a go-pro or something else someone has? I’m trying to work out my camera set up when I go snorkeling and diving and haven’t settled on anything yet.

Lastly do you have tips for how to break in a dive mask? I got one for a trip to Bermuda and it was so nice to be able to just snorkel when I wanted (in addition to the diving). But it fogged up so bad during the dive that I could barely see on the right side. Maybe I didn’t prep it well enough? Or just need to get anti-fog? Any tips?

But I’ve been really wanting to go to Isla Mujeres for awhile now, so I’m sold on diving there, too!
