I volunteer with a Monarch conservation and education group in Georgia and recently delved into how the history of the eastern migration of Monarchs to central Mexico every fall is intertwined with that of the indigenous peoples. I learned just how the arrival of the butterflies coincides with Dia de los Muertos and how the Purepecha Indians believed the butterflies were the souls of their ancestors coming to visit. Such a beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing your personal experience with this celebration.
