Ah, Hawaii! Whenever I go too long between trips I honestly ache for it <3 Best of luck with your travel blog! Keep an eye out for my friend Angie Away's next blogging bootcamp -- she's an industry veteran who spends a whole weekend sharing what she's learned. And it's such an in-depth topic, you'd definitely need a weekend at minimum to cover it :)

Great article! We have been to Hawaii three time as well, I just read through our journal notes about our first trip on Oahu and Kauai. Hawaii has a special place in our hearts as well.

We just started up our own travel blog, any tips and advice is much appreciated!

You forgot to WARN FOLKS THAT IF THEY PLAN ON LIVING HERE AND IF THEY HAVE FURRY FRIENDS (cats or dogs) DO NOT BRING THEM HERE TO OAHU, HI BECAUSE THE VETERINARIANS HERE MAJORITY OF THEM WILL ABUSE, INJURY AND HARM YOUR ANIMAL. Hey Mckenna! I think that's awesome that you are feeling so magnetically called there! When that happens to me... I listen! Follow the adventure, for sure.

A GoPro can definitely be a fun toy but personally I think it takes better video than photos. I've never really gotten the hang of it for still photos. You're going to have the best time.

So I've never been to Hawaii, but this summer three friends and I decided we are going to move to Maui for the winter (Nov- May)... are we crazy??!! We are from NJ/NY so it's not the closest place and so many people are trying to talk us out of it saying it's so expensive and there are so many other places but now I can not get it out of my head I've just been spending hours reading everything and anything about Hawaii and my heart is set now... I'm going to Hawaii either way but now I just need to make sure I'm prepared!!

I LOVED this post it helped so much I am def keeping it book marked. I would love to learn more about anything on Hawaii I should know before moving there for a few months.. everything is helpful- your blog is so fun!!! thanks so much xx

Also, is a GoPro a must have for Hawaii?? Because I am thinking about getting one so I'm looking for recommendations if you have any!

Hey Petra! I've never been to Hawaii in February (I always seem to go in the fall or summer!), so I can't speak too much to the weather. But camping in Maui is amazing, and I've heard it's great in Kauai too. I'd do a max of three islands in three weeks, since flying between them is expensive and you'll want at LEAST a week per island, but even then you might find one week flies by! I love the islands all so much, it's honestly really hard for me to narrow it down even in my own travels, ha. One piece of reassurance -- you can't go wrong!

Hi! I love your blog. Me and my friends decided to go to Hawaii in February for 3 weeks and we cannot decide on the itinerary. We are torn between exploring maui and kauai for the whole time or between spending just a few days at each and exploring other islands as well. At least we would get the vibe and see which ones we loved the most and maybe returned just there one day. We want to camp most of the time and hotel only here and there to regenerate. We like nature more than cities. What do you recommend as a person that knows Hawaii well? And what about the time of the year? Thanks a lot
