Hey Sonja! Congrats on the new setup! I typically switch to the underwater setting, leave ISO on auto and set it to -1/3 an f stop. Hope that makes sense — I’m not much of a technical photographer. In terms of underwater photography tips, I once wrote a whole post on the subject for Andi of My Beautiful Adventures — check it out! Should be plenty of good ideas there 🙂

I just ordered an underwater housing (the one you recommended, except for my S110) and it is entirely thanks to you and your amazing underwater photos! I came back to this post since it is the one that has inspired me most to pull the trigger. I’ve never scuba dived, but I’m signing up for classes and will be diving on Maui next December! Do you have any suggestions for getting good underwater shots with that setup? What iso do you typically stay under with the S100 when you’re underwater?

I haven’t had any serious encounters with sea lice anywhere around Koh Tao… but maybe I’ve just been lucky 🙂 It really depends on the day!

We were in Koh Samui last February and my brother & I did 2 dives out to Sail Rock. A very hot calm day long boat ride out to the Rock. First dive was very murky and strong currents, 2nd dive was beautiful, lot’s of marine life! How did you find the sea lice in the Gulf? We came across quite a bit in Feb! Great pics, thanks for sharing!
