Hey Charlie! It’s been so long since I was there, it’s possible the island has changed a lot. Spots like this in Southeast Asia tend to! My impulse would be to say yes. There’s a super active dive community and the threshers attract travelers from all over. But I’m not sure how many courses they do, which might effect your experience (I would GUESS it’s more fun divers there to see the sharks, but I’m basing that on nothing but a guess!) I am considering doing my dive master on Malapascua Island but since I’m going alone wanted to make sure I could meet some people so I won’t get lonely!

I don’t need raging nightlife but hoped there might be enough people to have a drink with – do you think this island has enough going on to meet people whilst doing the course?

Bit of a heavy question I know – just looking for your first impressions!
