Will you be staying overnight in RI or MA or flying round trip for the day? If so from where? I fear it may be a lot of travel for one day!

I am trying to book a birthday trip for a friend and currently looking to fly into Providence and doing a day trip by ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. After reading your article, which do you believe is better, flying into RI or MA?

Hello! Thank you for suggesting the Alpaca farm…I dont know why but I love those cute animals! Another suggestion for something to do is to take a tour provided by the MV African American Heritage Trail. They provide many tours dedicated to recognizing the contributions made by people of African decent to the history of the island. Their website lists more than 30 dedicated sites/stops. I haven’t been but plan to go during my trip this year.

I just came across your Blog. You hit MV spot on! I’m a Uber/Lyft driver from Ct. and last year I worked the Vineyard and stayed at the Hostel meeting alot of new friends in the process! Who knows, maybe I’ll pick you guys up this summer!

Hey Kerri! Congrats on your husband’s big birthday! In addition to the cost of the vehicle crossing on the ferry (which is quite pricey, but not as bad split between four) it’s $8.50 per person. Personally I’d do a morning sightseeing in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, then drive up-island to the Aquinnah cliffs and do sunset in Menemsha. It’s a lot to fit into a day but if you want to see the highlights, that’s the best way! If you have to cut something, I’d cut Edgartown, but I’m biased towards Oak Bluffs 🙂 Hope that helps!

Hey Alex, I just stumbled on your site as I am looking to do a day tour on a budget to MV, so from early morning to the end of day and hope to see as much as possible within that time frame. My Husband is turning the big 5.0. so we are staying in Boston doing 2 days there ,checking out the city and hopefully one of them in Salem to do the “Salem Witch thing”. I am looking to Drive to MV and take our vehicle on the Ferry , figuring this is the cheapest was to travel all over the Island with 4 people. In addition to the Ferry rate for our vehicle how much more are we expected to pay per person? And seeing how we are only going to be there for the one day do you have any recommendations as to what should not be missed?
