You can definitely get onto MV anytime as long as you don’t need to bring your car over! The car ferry gets booked up crazy fast for high season, but if you can park your car and walk on you don’t need a reservation at all 🙂

This looks like a great setting and with lots of options to explore scenery and parties. Such a shame there is a 1 year waiting list to get bookings there!

I’m sorry to hear you had a somewhat negative experience! I definitely have experienced some New England brusque-ness on the island, but nothing I took personally 🙂 I can somewhat empathize with the islanders on that point, though of course it would benefit anyone working in a tourism dependent area to remember where they make their money! I’d suggest a return in shoulder season — September and June are my favorite months on MV.
