In reply to Pawan Ranta. It's definitely manageable navigation-wise -- it's more a matter of knowing which campsites are used by recreational campers and which are more homeless encampments, which sadly is a major issue on Maui. This is a great guide!

In reply to Bruno. Hey Bruno! I was definitely nervous but it was fine. There are a few spots where I had to kind of close my eyes and just let the driver take over, ha, because the narrow cliffs made me nervous, but they were over pretty quickly and then honestly it was nice and easy. We talked to local friends who do the drive often and got their input, which made us feel much better.

We’re looking to do a similar trip. I noticed you did the backside route in your Westie. How was it? I know that your rental contract says you’re responsible for any damage or towing that might occur on that stretch of road.

It looks like there are several outfitters that provide camper vans for rent. Does Aloha Outdoors give discounts to people you refer?

In reply to Marlo Vercauteren. Hmmm, good question -- Ian and I are both not very tall so I don't know if we can offer much insight there! I remember being super comfortable (also, camping can be exhausting so I was tired by the time we went to bed!) but there could definitely potentially be some feet dangling.

We are going to do this in November! This is exactly what I had been planning so i’m so glad to hear it’s wonderful. I had one question on how you thought the bed was? my partner is 6’4″ and I want to make sure the bed is comfy for him for 4 nights. We’ll think about getting a pad for it if it’s not soft so we can sleep really well.
