I'm a New York native who left my home to explore the world slowly and thoroughly. I’m just a little obsessed with photography, scuba diving, and reading guidebooks to countries I have no immediate plans to visit.
Proud to be a woman in diving 🫶🏼 We love ru Proud to be a woman in diving 🫶🏼

We love running a @paditv women’s dive day @wanderwomenretreats! This year our trip brought us to the rich waters of West Palm Beach, Florida.

We spent one day diving, snorkeling or freediving with sharks with @calypsodivecharters — a company with an all female team of badass shark feeders and photographers like our girl @make.it.rayna_ from @oceanraysphotography.

The next day, we were off to Blue Heron Bridge, one of the Sunshine State’s iconic dive sites for the big event! I tell ya what, walking through the parking lot of this shore entry dive just buzzing with women hauling tanks filled my heart right up!

The dive and freedive itself was a little taster flight of all the Florida magic — seahorses, eagle rays, wrecks, bridges with wild schooling fish, and more! We were led by @make.it.rayna_ and @underseakeke, two incredible advocates for Florida waters.

I’m proud to report one of our snorkeling guests on this trip even came back to get PADI certified with Keke after 🤍 Stories like that make us to happy dances at Wander Women Retreats!

Wanna learn to dive with us? TWO spots now open in Wander Women Koh Tao in April 2023, where you’ll arrive as a total beginner and leave a certified Open Water Diver!

Already advanced? We’ve got TWO spots left on our liveaboard in Raja Ampat in March 2023! DM me or check the link in my profile for info on either!

Let me know in the comments where you think our next dive retreat should be! 💦

PS: Thanks @blueadaptation for my amazing swim set! This is the softest eco wear by yet another incredible woman-owned small business — check them out! We were super exited to work with them for this retreat!
Yoga for all 🫶🏼 One thing I’m proud of at Yoga for all 🫶🏼

One thing I’m proud of at @wanderwomenretreats is we do things a little bit differently, and incorporate yoga classes into our itineraries that are really designed for everyone, from someone who’s never got in a mat before to fellow instructors (we’ve even had guests guest teach! :-) )

On our West Palm Beach Women’s Dive Day Retreat we had some really special classes in some gorgeous places that complemented our beautiful location — and showed our ability to pivot to some pretty epic plan Bs!

• We opened with yummy yin class right in the courtyard of our home base @richhippieshouse
• We did a sassy vinyasa flow at @grandviewpublic, a hip WPB spot where after class we stocked up on cute local shopping, grabbed cocktails from the bar, enjoyed live music and each grabbed dinner at the vendor stall of our choice
• When SUP yoga got slashed by big waves, we pivoted to a sip n stretch back in the courtyard with local Florida beers and ciders!
• When rain sidelined our plans for a beachy sunrise slow flow, we cozied into our villa and practiced in our jammies instead!

I am so grateful for the opportunity to constantly grow as both student and teacher. Want to flow with me and see what it’s all about? This is your sign! We’ve got a few trips coming up with open spots…

Heart rate in overdrive 📈 People often ask me Heart rate in overdrive 📈

People often ask me if I’m afraid of anything, and it’s kind of a funny question… I am rarely afraid of people or places and can be a bit blithe about security, but I’ve dealt with crippling anxiety at points in my life over things that are actually statistically incredibly safe, like turbulence and sharks.

Some fears, I have to face: my job requires me to get on a plane, and over time I’ve found coping mechanisms that keep me cool (I have a popular blog post about this — Google “Alex in Wanderland fear of flying” to find it!) Others I have chosen to.

Sharks, like women, are often misunderstood, frequently feared, and pretty unilaterally badass. Which is why I launched a @wanderwomenretreats for @paditv’s Women’s Dive Day centered around diving and snorkeling and freediving with sharks off the coast of Florida’s West Palm Beach.

I arrived early for a freediving session with my shark-loving bestie @angieaway, which is when the incredible @make.it.rayna_ from @oceanraysphotography captured these incredible images of me experiencing the thrill, the power and the magic of sharing space with these beautiful apex ocean predators.

Can’t wait to share more about this wild weekend immersed in nature 🫶🏼 Stay tuned!

PS: Want photos like these of yourself underwater? Grab one of the last TWO spots left on our Raja Ampat charter this March with Rayna as our onboard photographer.
This summer I had the great honor of officiating m This summer I had the great honor of officiating my best friend’s wedding 💍💐🥹

@kmzeto and @marklou1s met in Saratoga, put a ring on it in Saratoga, and so of course had to tie the knot in Saratoga! It took a couple years of postponements and reimagining but I loved every dress fitting, location visit, and venting-over-cocktails session I was lucky enough to be a part of. Not to mention the most epic bachelorette weekend in Tulum!

It was an intimate wedding weekend, one of those magical relaxed ones where you feel that electricity of two people finding their *person* and all the excitement of their families to get to be a part of it.

When Kristin and Mark asked me to officiate I said I would love to under one condition… I still get to make my reception speech because guess what I’ve had that one written for years 😅

Kristin you are a sister to me 💕 @lmattiske and @tiskelnm I am forever your “other daughter.” And all the rest of you I just love! So grateful to be so warmly embraced by this bonus family since I was 13 years old and tumbled into their minivan. @marklou1s how lucky are we to have joined this particular circus!

All I can say is smile big at the girl next to you in the middle school Bye Bye Birdie chorus line… you never know, twenty years from now you might be buttoning up her wedding dress as she goes off to marry the love of her life 🤍
