I'm a New York native who left my home to explore the world slowly and thoroughly. I’m just a little obsessed with photography, scuba diving, and reading guidebooks to countries I have no immediate plans to visit.
Monday afternoon reminder that while society tells Monday afternoon reminder that while society tells us the most valuable traits a woman can have are to be small, polite, likable and modest, you are entitled to take up physical space in the world, to ask directly for what you want and need, to have big and audacious dreams and sometimes fail, and to be insanely proud of yourself when you do achieve them.

Thank you to #WITSPuertoRico and @sheswanderful for an inspiring weekend and for being the first organization to give me a big solo stage. While I’ve been speaking at conferences since 2015, panels and co-talks have been the rivers and lakes I’ve been used to. I chased the big waterfall of a solo ninety minute speaking opportunity, and also pitched and led a yoga for entrepreneurs class, held five inspiring one-on-one mentor sessions, and met with incredible future campaign partners I’m excited to collaborate with soon. It is not lost on me that it is an organization of women that opened this door for me.

It has been less than fifty years since women in the US were legally allowed to open their own bank account without a male co-signer. For many of us in the room this weekend that means our own mothers were born into a world where they could not control their own financial destiny without their husbands or fathers.

Look at us now.

I love this event because it reminds me to be thankful for all the women whose hard work paved this path and that it is now a responsibility and also an honor to turn and offer a hand to others on the road to living their big audacious dreams.

I’ll share more from this inspiring weekend here on my feed when the professional photos come through, but for now, check my stories to follow along 🫶🏼 Big love and gratitude!
Highly recommend finding a gay best friend also co Highly recommend finding a gay best friend also committed to a life of child-free debauchery and making them your partner in festival road trips, Landslide duets, late night heartbreak recovery strategy sessions, international coworking adventures, and occasionally checking into luxury resorts for couples spa treatments, microdosing and watching Ferngully in bed after a five star meal in a river-side nest 🪺
Making new friends in a new country in a new decad Making new friends in a new country in a new decade is a stretch, but if you look in the mirror and look for your best self, you just might find some lifelong besties 🙃

Dad jokes aside, moving to a new place and finding your people can be a lil rocky sometimes! You have to put yourself out there a lot and sometimes it falls flat. I remind myself that everywhere I’ve ever lived and loved… I was once new and clueless there too, smiling too much and making aggressive eye contact and creepily trying to make friend dates, haha, and look how magical all of those places and people turned out.

Anyway, accepting new friend applications in Bali and super grateful @rifqyhaddad and @amirasaadventures among others, found room on their roster for me 😉 And thank you @hotmessyoga for all the set ups 👯‍♀️🥂

Here’s to the next place to live and love 💛

For some, travel is an instant mood boost. But at times, it can take us away from the routines, communities and resources that keep us feeling good.

May is Mental Health Awareness month. Treat your mind and soul to a free 30 day trial of @Audible; and spend May streaming guided meditations, wellness podcasts, holistic learning series, and self development titles. Head to audible.com/alexinwanderland or text alexinwanderland to 500-500 to sign up!

Storytelling, much like traveling, can expose us to different thoughts, perspectives and ideas, which is something that has always helped me see the bigger picture and reminds me how big and beautiful the world and everyone in it has the capacity to be. Thanks to my #sponsor Audible for taking this month to focus on what really matters 🫶🏼

1. Open my mind. Audible is a great tool for disrupting thought spirals and negative thinking! There was this study in Psychology Today noting that for “those of us prone to anxiety and depression…listening to someone else read aloud can help by replacing negative thoughts with something else”.

2. Moving my body. Boom. My number one, foolproof mood boost. Anything from a yoga class or a short jog can do the job. Or, backup plan, travel with a set of resistance bands for a short workout even in a cramped hotel room.

3. Connect with a friend. Traveling can be lonely. Why not try an Audible Title Club to stay connected when you’re on the road? You can send each other voice notes about each chapter if you’re in different time zones, or make it a self development title like The Happiness Project, and try forming new habits together as you listen.

4. Write it out. I’ve recently reconnected with journaling and all I can say is the paper is a great listener, and the pen is powerful tool for helping you label and recognize your emotions. Open to a fresh page, set a timer for five minutes, and just try it! Wary of what to say? Try a guided journaling title like Take Back Your Life; a forty day interactive journaling journey.
