Hey Marcus! I think we were there in late November/early December? To be honest I don’t remember if there are other seasons in this particular area of Peru — I think it’s quite arid year round, but I could be wrong. We had a blast regardless!

I literally thought hiking the Colca Canyon would be WAY easier than it was and your story makes me laugh 🙂

I know this post is old but it caught my eye and made me laugh – I too experienced a comedy of mishaps when attempting to hike the Colca Canyon nearly 5 years ago now. So much so that I never actually made it in to the actual canyon. One day I would like to return and turn that fail into a success!

I’m glad you finally got to have a crazy, dangerous and adrenaline pumping experience, and that you made it out the other side, mule or not 🙂
