I have semi retired and now have a home in Kalasin Province. I am due to fly out from the UK on January 22nd for a 6 week stay. During this time I am planning a road trip which will take in Khao Yai and Kanchanaburi among other places. I had planned on a day visit to the park, but after reading your account we will now have 2 nights there. We will even try for cabin 206 after your recommendation.
If you like motorcycles and are back in Thailand may I recommend riding from Chiang Mai to Pai. When we did this trip it took us nine hours to get there and less than two to get back. There is so much to stop and see on the way. Not least the hundreds of hairpin bends going over two mountain ranges.

Hi Matthew! Sorry for my delayed reply! Gosh, I’m really throwing a shot in the dark here but I’d guess with all the stops, in and back it would be like four-ish? Really depends on how often you get out of the car and what hikes you do, etc! Hope you enjoy! Let me know how it went/goes!

I’m in Thailand now, and I’m debating between driving through the park from north to south with family OR taking the train up from Bangkok next week by myself. Do you have any idea how long it takes to just drive through the park? 2 hours? 4 hours? Any guess is appreciated!
