In reply to Alc. Well, actually in the month I was recapping here, I made over $2,000. So, yup, it's possible! You are right, travel blogging is a very saturated market, which is why I also supplement my blog income with travel-related freelance writing and graphic design (blogging is about 60% of my income, freelancing 40%). I do work on-location occasionally doing things like underwater videography, but I assure you there is no trust fund. This post might give you a better idea of how I saved to start with. You sound pretty skeptical and I'm not sure what I could do to convince you short of publishing my bank statements. All I can say is I'm proud of my success here!

Jet curious how on earth you can fund travel based on your bog, there are literally thousands of travel blogs out there and I just can’t see how it would be possible to make $1,500 a month just with adversing on a very saturated bogging niche. Am I missing something? Trust fund? Local day job? Most people I know trying the blogging route for long term travel are on an extremely tight budget and its never enough to cover the costs f travel…

Oh, we are always friends. It’s just the tumultuous nature of sisterhood! Not sure what I can tell ya about having a profitable month… just taking on tons of freelance writing and graphic design (about 40% of my income) and selling direct and affiliate advertising here (about 60%). Earning more than I made… wish it were as easy as it sounds! 🙂

Hey Rachel, thanks for commenting! I know what you mean… I’ve almost stopped reading certain blogs in the past because they made me feel bad for some reason about myself or my life. But that’s crazy because as you say, we only ever see a little slice of someone’s full life. I’m committed to being as transparent as possible though… I never want to leave anyone with the impression that I or my life is perfect!

Though I admit, it’s pretty great right now 🙂
