In reply to Natalie. Definitely. I've poured my heart and soul into certain posts only to have them fall flat, or stayed up all night writing posts where the only comments are to point out a typo. You just never know what your audience will respond to! That's part of the frustration of blogging, but it can also be part of the fun.

I love your honesty about the ‘blogger blunder.’ I recently worked really hard to create a new page on my website for ESL Teaching Resources. After hours of doing the behind the scenes work, I posted it and announced it to my followers only to have not one person even look at it for days.

It’s always a blow when you work hard at something and don’t get the response you expected. For me it was an eye-opener that I need to work more to reach that community. It was timely to read about your situation. It made me feel a little better and reminded me that we all have to continue to work hard to make this blog thing work. Good luck next time!

I've now started to feel guilty that I wasn't super clear in my post to say that I really don't blame anyone individually for not coming -- as you said, life comes up! Just on my end, sitting alone in an empty bar, it was quite tragic, ha ha. But you know what they say about what doesn't kill you :)

Awww, reading about your reader meetup made me sad as well! Life can get pretty busy! It’s hard for me to even meet my own best friends at this point. I’m certain the lack of participants was due to scheduling conflicts and everyday life getting in the way, but I definitely understand how it would feel like a personal blow. I am always so impressed at how personal you are able to be on your site. It is so helpful for me to not just get some info on a place to visit, but to also read about you dealing with the same types of issues that arise in my life. It can be hard to find someone who relates to long term travel strangeness. Knowing that behind every other blog is days of sickness, travel weariness or equipment malfunctions as well as epic adventures sure helps!
