That sounds like a really good plan. But it’s the opposite of my plan! I spend all my time traveling/working in those little towns in a bunch of countries. One my time off – I want less of that and more nutella pancakes and beer! But you’re dead right – those little towns we always drive through are always full of great little adventures – even if for an overnighter here and there. I learned more Khmai in Kompong Chnang for 3 days than PP for 3 months.

I am an expat in Cambodia, and while I try to travel to surrounding countries as much as possible, sometimes a trip to the nearest town can be much more rewarding. Fewer tourists, more cultural immersion and better food.
