Edinburgh wins for me for two reasons not mentioned here. First- Arthurs’s Seat. How many capital cities have a beautiful rocky outlook planted right in their heart? So wonderful for walking/jogging, and the perfect activity for visitors who want something that is not overly touristy.

As a theatre nerd, I am also a massive fan of the Edinburgh Fringe. Every August, the city gets taken over by the world’s largest arts festival filled with drama, comedy, music, and all sorts of performances. Some of it is wonderful, some is terrible. But the vibe that the city has during those summer days is nothing short of magic.

Glasgow is ‘smiles better’ and I’ve lived in both so feel I have authority to make that decision. I’m happy to see you gave Glasgow a committed chance, I always meet travellers that are going to ‘Scotland’ aka Edinburgh and might do a day trip to Glasgow. No no no no no!

But you should have paid to go in the Castle – it’s so worth it! Or up Scott Monument for £3.50.

A cool post! I think it’s impossible not to curb a frivolous spending habit addiction while on the dusty path. I’ve found that even when I transition to being back home I spend far less now.
