Sounds like you’ve run some AWESOME camps! Loved hearing your perspective and you make a lot of great points. I did go to a super fun pancake party and I loved being behind the bar at Mexicamp’s tequila party, too! I’m sure you are right, scale is a huge factor. Afrikaburn is totally on my list!

I must say you’re pretty accurate with all you wrote and that it was a pleasure to read!

I mostly support the fact that Burning Man to me was a huge wonder and it filled me with awe. Midburn on the other hand has its charm because after it you go back home and take the relationships you made there back with you. It’s really making the burn culture something solid in your daily routine.

Great post. Great pictures. Great observations. It seems u r good at capturing spirit, feelings/sentiments as well as shots & frames. Kudos.
However, I’m quite surprized at what u said about food & drinks gifting.
granted, I’m sure that the scale is smaller than at BM (it has to do also with general cost of living which is much higer than US, and with average income, which is substantially lower), but nevertheless there r many camps offering different kind of foods at different time of the day (e.g starting at 7am & closing & 9am if it’s “morning food”, or starting at 8pm & closing at 10pm, if it’s more towards hot dinner food.
Booze camps there are many, some even moving their stuff around, onto the playa. In addition many camps putting up parties (NOT sound camps) r offering complimentary alcoholic drinks/cocktails (fairly diluted though…). In 2016 I ran a sunset party camp (called “sunset beach”, how corny…); during all party’s time, 5-9pm daily, we offered gallons of Arak (Raki; Ouzo; anis) & grapefruit cocktails, to be shot in one’s mouth with a water-gun…(u missed it by a couple of years…)
Next burn u should visit is the Afrika burn – it’s also VERY different from BM, in most aspects, and surprizingly has quite a few things in common with Midburn (including size), in totally different settings, and the most bizarre & diverse weather u can experience along one week.
