Bali is teeming with creative energy, filled with delicious healthy food, blessed with easy access to nature and bursting with adrenaline-fueled adventure activities.
Throughout the week, we’ll rest our heads in swoon-worthy accommodation, ranging from a chic boutique hotel to sleek authentic villas. Balinese hospitality will be in full effect, as we indulge in local cuisine and culture around this stunning island paradise.
A photographer will be behind the lens every step of the way, ensuring everyone leaves with profile-picture worthy shots of themselves. In addition to full access to the hundreds of photos our pro will take throughout the trip, she’ll send a daily selection of highlights for you to post on-the-go.

The Itinerary
Subject to change, but you’re going to have a magical time — here’s the general idea!
Day 1: Welcome to the calming energy of Ubud! After a yin massage yoga class with sound bath to unwind post-travels, we’ll toast to an exciting week ahead with a welcome cooking class for dinner, and a Bahasa lesson. Get all caught up on your beauty sleep before the adventure begins tomorrow.
Day 2: After a quick tea or coffee we will head off for breakfast together overlooking the iconic Telangana Rice Fields — don’t forget your bathing suit for a dip in a pool with swoon worthy views! Once we have nourished ourselves and our souls we will visit the Monkey Forest before heading to yoga at an Ubud institution. Pick up iconic Bali souvenirs while shopping at the market and then it’s time for the Campuhan Ridge Walk. Dinner will be at a local favorite with a menu that caters to all diets, veggies and vegans delight!
Day 3: Time to hit Bali’s most beautiful waterfalls as we make our way down to bustling Canggu. Enjoy lunch in the belly of the beast as we gaze upon nature’s beauty at a hip waterful day club. Bali has everything! Once in Canggu we will do as the locals do and ensure we have a cocktail in hand as the sun sets with sip + stretch yoga, followed by dinner at one of the island’s best restaurants, where we’ll dine on healthy salads and the freshest seafood.
Day 4: Canggu has no shortage of yoga shalas but get ready for a view of the Gu under the guidance of a local instructor. After we finish saluting the sun we will give thanks to the Gods by creating a traditional Balinese offering at a private workshop. Post-lunch, we will head to the beach for our surf lesson with an internationally acclaimed instructor and at night, enjoy dinner at your leisure at one of endless restaurants choices in Canggu — don’t worry, we’ll guide you to our faves.
Day 5: Rise and shine, it’s party time — but first, yoga! Once we have worked up a morning sweat and eaten breakfast it will be high time we made our way to an infamous Bali beach club. Lounge in the sun, make new friends with fellow travelers and dance the day away. If we’re still raring to go post-sunset, we will party on to the coolest bars + clubs that kickoff after dark.
Day 6: Good morning sunshine, we will have a cold coconut at the ready to help with those post beach-club feels. If a slow flow and some breakfast doesn’t cure you, a morning of indulgence at one of Bali’s most beautiful spas should do the trick! We will pamper ourselves with a full body massage, scrub and facial before we continue our journey down to surfers paradise Uluwatu. Once we arrive we will take in the cliff top views from one of the islands most iconic temples with a few new monkey friends. We will close out the day with a fire ceremony then head back to sleep Uluwatu for dinner and downtime.
Day 7: Take in the endless views of Indian Ocean from the Uluwatu cliff tops with yoga this morning. Today is all about going with the flow and the pace of that flow is your hands. We will start the day by visiting one of the islands best kept secret beaches – think powder white sand, a cool pool overlooking the sea and mellow vibes. If this is the vibe for the day then let the good times roll. If you are ready for once last party then we will head to one of the islands most exclusive clifftop clubs for an evening of dancing under the stars!
Day 8: It’s time for hugs and fond farewells — unless you’re sticking around for more!
Joining our Raja Ampat Liveaboard? The fun continues with a week of diving and luxuriating!

Health + Safety
Indonesia still has COVID arrival procedures and requires proof of vaccination or medical exemption to enter the country.
Indonesia requires visitors outside of those with a valid medical exception to be fully vaccinated, which they define as vaccinated with two doses (or a single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine) more than 14 days before arrival (for now Indonesia does not look at the dates when the vaccination has been administered, just the number of vaccinations).
Getting There and Away
All international flights to Bali arrive and depart from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). This is where our retreat will begin.
Upon arrival, a driver will pick you up from the airport and drive you to Ubud to start the retreat. At the end of the retreat there will be a car service arranged to take you back to the airport on the last day of the retreat. If you choose to stay in Bali past the departure date we will be happy to help with transfers at your own expense.
Please feel free to reach out to us for help with flight recommendations — we’re always available at retreats@alexinwanderland.com. We offer an hour of complimentary consultation on booking your trip, after which we will offer our hourly consulting at a special retreat guest rate.

F.A.Q.
What is the refund policy?
The $500 deposit to secure your space is non-refundable and remaining invoices are due 90 days before departure. If the trip must be postponed or cancelled due to events beyond our control, you will be offered the choice between a full refund and applying your payment to a future trip.
The reason our deposits are non-refundable is that we start incurring costs from the moment someone presses “book” — from credit card fees to high hourly wages for our team who corresponds with guests, manages trip inventory and our e-commerce platform, analyzes forms to create room assignments, coordinates with our local vendors, and beyond.
There’s nothing we want more than for our guests to take and enjoy the travel they have worked hard and paid for. Thank you so much for your understanding and respect of our need to enforce this policy strictly. We want to be here to travel with you for years to come!
Will I need travel insurance?
Yes, everyone will be required to have travel insurance for the duration of the trip. Our affiliate, World Nomads offers coverage at affordable rates. We urge you to purchase travel insurance as soon as you make your deposit to ensure the most coverage.
Do I need to be good at yoga?
Absolutely not. (And frankly, we don’t believe in the idea of being “good” at yoga!) We have a range of yogis from brand-new beginners to talented instructors join us on our trips. You’ll get the opportunity to sample a wide range of yoga styles, and you can opt in or out of as many classes as you wish.
Will I have time to do my own thing?
This is your retreat and we want you to make it exactly what you want! There’s a lot to see and experience, so we’ve tried to design an itinerary that balances the best of activity and downtime. But any time you want to bow out to have some “me-time” or do your own thing, we’re going to cheer you on.
How much money will I need to bring?
Bali offers a wide variety of meal options for all travelers! For meals at the local spots we’ll bring you to, you can expect to spend a minimum 200,000 Rp ($12USD) for lunch or 400,000 Rp ($25USD) for dinner, depending on where you go and what you order. Alcohol can range from $2 a beer during happy hour to $15 a cocktail at a beach club. Tipping is appreciated but not required in Bali.
I want to extend my trip to explore more of Indonesia. Any suggestions?
Check out our destination page for our posts about the Gili Islands, Ahmed, Lovina, Munduk, Sideman and the Nusa Islands — and feel free to email us for more info and ideas! Alex and Shannon have traveled Indonesia extensively. We offer an hour of complimentary consultation on expanding your trip, after which we will offer our hourly consulting at a special retreat guest rate.
What if I test positive for COVID while abroad?
We understand this is a major concern for many traveling internationally right now.
In the very unlikely event that you contract COVID-19 while traveling with us, we will assist you in confirming your positive test results, finding a location to isolate, and rebooking your travel home if there are restrictions in place.
Can I do a payment plan and pay in installments?
Absolutely. Email us at retreats@alexinwanderland.com.
Will I need travel insurance?
Yes, everyone will be required to have personal travel insurance for the duration of the trip.
