Wander Women Red Sea:
A Dive + Yoga Liveaboard
Southern Red Sea, Egypt
September 24-October 1, 2026
Join us for a soul-stirring week aboard our boutique liveaboard as we explore the legendary Southern Red Sea of Egypt — a custom, hand-curated route departing from Port Ghalib. This journey is designed for those seeking adventure, connection, and awe-inspiring underwater encounters, alongside the rejuvenating power of movement and mindfulness.
We are beyond excited to announce a brand new Wander Women Liveaboard in one of our most beloved destinations — Egypt. This liveaboard retreat offers exclusive access to some of the Red Sea’s most coveted dive spots, including the legendary Daedalus Reef. Say goodbye to long surface commutes — each morning you’ll wake up at a new underwater paradise, ready to immerse yourself in crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life. This liveaboard experience is a deep dive into the beauty of the Red Sea, offering a focused, unforgettable adventure in one of the world’s best dive destinations — with all the usual Wander Women twists!
Our journey begins at Port Gahlib, the luxurious Red Sea marina town that serves as the gateway to our adventure. Here, we’ll board our privately chartered yacht — think boutique beach hotel meets modern liveaboard. For seven nights, we’ll cruise the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea, searching for scalloped hammerheads, shy dugongs, thresher sharks, and playful spinner dolphins. Between dives, we’ll gather on deck for daily yoga, sunset stretches, sundeck meals with ocean views, and so much more.

If you’ve been diving in Egypt with us before, this will be a completely fresh experience. We’re exploring an un-chartered — to Wander Women — section of the Red Sea. With sixteen enchanting scuba dives and two incredible wildlife encounter freedives over the week, we’ll explore both well-known and hidden gem underwater areas in the region.
In addition to diving, enjoy onboard activities like daily yoga, tropical cocktails in the top-deck hot tub, ocean-inspired craft sessions, and educational workshops with our epic team. As the moon rises, we’ll come together for specially curated meals prepared by our wonderful crew, followed by a variety of signature Wander Women events, from themed evenings and starlit movie nights to storytelling under the stars.
Did someone say strike a pose? This time, there will be not one but two Wander Women photographers along the way capturing your core memories above and below the surface. It’s a Wander Women Dream Team with Alexandra Baackes, Jenny Lord and Rayna O’Nan all onboard!
One week of adventures not enough for you? Join Wander Women Undiscovered Egypt or Wander Women Ancient Egypt to experience the best of land and sea!

The Itinerary
The exact itinerary will be confirmed closer to arrival and is subject to changes due to weather conditions and circumstances. We want our trip to be unforgettable so we’ll constantly be in search of unique experiences — but here’s the general idea!
Joining us from our connecting retreat Wander Women Undiscovered Egypt? Don’t worry about a thing — we’ll get you where you need to be, stress free and smiling.
Day 1: Welcome to Egypt! As you step out of the airport and into the warmth of the coast you’ll be whisked to Port Ghalib, where our beautiful yacht Omneia Soul will be waiting. Your VIP experience began when you were greeted off the plane by an agent to assist with your visa and start your vacation in style! Once aboard, we’ll enjoy some time to settle in, unpack, and explore our floating home before an opening circle to set intentions and make connections for the week ahead. As the sun begins to set, we’ll toast to our trip from the top deck before dinner, marking the start of an unforgettable adventure.
Day 2: Rise and shine! Today, the Soul sets sail bright and early, and we’ll enjoy our first sunrise yoga practice as Port Ghalib slowly fades from view. It’s our first full day at sea, and we’re diving right into the action — literally. Today we’re exploring the many sites of Abu Dabbab, a reef famed for its elusive dugongs, gliding sea turtles, ghost pipefish, and delicate seahorses. The Soul is a dream for photographers with a dedicated photography area, and so after a morning of exploration and a hearty lunch, we’ll gather to learn how to strike a pose for the week with the first of a triad of photography workshops: Underwater Modeling with Rayna. While the menu will cross the globe, tonight’s dinner is an introduction to Egypt’s greatest! Want to sleep under the stars? The Soul welcomes you to pack a sleeping bag if you want to try a night on the top deck.
Day 3: Wake up to Egypt’s beautiful seascapes passing serenely by. Today we’re triple diving Daedalus Reef! This secluded reef, rising dramatically from the depths of the open sea, is a designated marine park accessible exclusively by liveaboard vessels, ensuring an intimate and pristine diving adventure. Renowned for its steep drop-offs, lush coral gardens, and exhilarating encounters with marine life – including oceanic whitetip sharks, hammerheads, whale sharks and manta rays – Daedalus offers some of the most thrilling drift dives in the Red Sea, making it a bucket-list destination for divers around the world. It’s the full moon tonight, hopefully drawing even more main character pelagics than usual. Above water, we’ll enjoy more curated meals, sunset from our yoga mats, and both a Diving with Sharks presentation by the Soul staff and Underwater Photography with Rayna. We’ll cap things off with a classic Wander Women onboard pajama party and movie night under the stars — and moon.

Day 4: We’re off to Egypt’s famed Fury Shoals, starting with Shaab Claudio, renowned for its intricate coral formations, cavern topography and mesmerizing light effects. Spacious passages are accessible and safe, making them ideal for both novice and experienced divers to navigate. Beyond the caverns, the reef boasts vibrant hard coral gardens teeming with marine life, including clownfish, parrotfish, napoleon wrasse, and the occasional whitetip reef shark. In between dives, we’ll enjoy an ocean-inspired crafternoon with Alex, sunrise yoga on the sundeck, stand up paddling and other watersports and of course, more delicious meals to keep us energized for our adventures. As night falls, we’ll slip back into the water for a mesmerizing night dive, searching for Spanish dancers, octopuses, and the many mysterious creatures that come alive after dark.
Day 5: If you’re a Below Deck fan, you know it’s all leading up to tonight’s beach barbecue. Today’s underwater adventures brings us to the stunning Shaab Maksour, a standout reef in the northeastern corner of Egypt’s Fury Shoals. Known for its breathtaking underwater scenery, this reef features steep drop-offs, sweeping plateaus, towering pinnacles, and intricate coral formations. You’ll navigate through a variety of seascapes — from dramatic swim-throughs and overhangs, to a serene lagoon on the western side. The reef’s rich habitats are home to a wide range of marine life, including trevally, tuna, grey reef sharks, and the occasional hammerheads who patrol the plateau edges. After our dives, we’ll dive into a Human Factors in Diving Workshop with Jenny before stepping foot on land for the first time in days! It’s time for partner yoga on the beach before heading back to get ready for the main event: a dinner party on a deserted sandbar, complete with a classic to-be-revealed Wander Women theme.
Day 6: Today is sure to be a highlight of the trip, as we dive into the magic of Shaab Sataya — better known as Dolphin Reef. Sataya’s shallow, sheltered lagoon is home to a world famous pod of spinner dolphins who come to rest and feed their calves. This makes Sataya Reef one of the best places on earth for wild, ethical encounters with these playful creatures! But the excitement doesn’t stop there — the reef also attracts barracudas, sharks, and large sea turtles. Between swimming and freediving with dolphins and scuba diving the reef, we’ll learn top tips for capturing it all – from any camera – at Underwater Photography Editing with Rayna, as well as a Dolphin Presentation by the Soul team. After dinner, it’s up to the top deck for starlight yin yoga, a meaningful end to a beautiful day.
Day 7: As our trip of a lifetime comes to a close, we’ve saved one of best for last: Elphinestone Reef, one of the Red Sea’s most iconic and sprawling sites — each dive will take in a completely unique section. The reef is famous for close encounters with oceanic whitetip sharks, and if we’re lucky, we might even spot hammerheads or thresher sharks cruising in the deep blue. Beyond the big fish, Elphinestone teems with schools of barracuda, jackfish, moray eels, and the occasional turtle. Back onboard, it’s time to celebrate an incredible trip! We’ll stop to swim and freedive with dugongs and turtles at Shaab Shouna as we make our way back to Port Ghalib, and gather for a final yoga practice on the top deck. We’re not crying, you’re crying! Tonight we’ll gather on the deck to sip sundowners as we share a heartfelt farewell closing circle sharing memories and laughter, before we enjoy our last dinner together on board – and one final theme night.
Day 8: Rise and shine to say goodbye to our floating home for the week. Unlike many liveaboards, we aren’t rushed off! We have a morning check out from our cabin, and a mid-day check out from the boat, leaving plenty of time to polish off log books and memory card swaps. We’ll end our magical retreat with a boat transfer back to Port Ghalib with transfers to the airport — phone storage and hearts alike overflowing with incredible memories, new bestie connections, and a renewed appreciation for the gorgeous blue planet we call home.
Or jump onto our connecting retreat Wander Women Signature Egypt and head to Cairo with us for another unforgettable trip!

The Diving
Let’s get real: a lot of the Southern Red Sea liveaboards just aren’t quite our vibe. Exhausting schedules, technical diving, and a lot of bravado on the surface intervals; the kind of trip that makes you come home from your vacation needing another vacation. No thanks! This designed-with-love custom route offers a perfect balance between peaceful, intimate reef experiences and wild, pelagic-filled adventures. Something else unique — the owner and a female divemaster will be onboard, so we’ll have women on our crew, a rare treat in Egypt!
We’ve also booked on the full moon week in the heart of the “September Sweet Spot,” just after the peak summer rush but before the heavy autumn crowds, offering a quieter experience at the most famous sites. When the intense summer heat has faded, but the sea retains its maximum warmth, allowing for long, comfortable dives in a thin wetsuit. Prepare for temperatures around the mid-80s°F (29°C), and daytime temperature above water ranges from 86–95°F (30–35°C), with nighttime temperatures ranging from 75–81°F (24–27°C). September also consistently offers the clearest water of the year, with visibility often exceeding 100 feet (30 meters!) Perfect for this overlap moment between hammerheads and oceanic whitetips seasons, in which we may be lucky enough to see both.
And the full moon is more than something beautiful to gaze at from the top deck. Winds are often at their weakest during the full moon period, leading to flatter surface conditions that make the long crossings to offshore sites much smoother.
This retreat is open to divers with a minimum of 30 logged dives as required to board liveaboard vessels in Egypt. If you’re an Open Water diver who meets this requirement but haven’t yet earned your Advanced Open Water certification or been certified in Nitrox — great news. You’ll have the chance to complete your PADI Enriched Air Diver remotely with us before the retreat, or join a PADI Advanced Open Water onboard while exploring some of the world’s top dive sites. Nitrox certified divers can enjoy complimentary enriched air throughout the trip! You will need an Advanced Open Water certification and fifty logged dives for two of the days of our itinerary. More below.
Our early dives in the protected coastal waters near Marsa Alam at Abbu Dabbab set a relaxed tone, offering close encounters with marine life and the chance to settle into the rhythm of the Red Sea. Sataya offers another high chill to high magic ratio, in a calm, shallow lagoon surrounded by spinner dolphins. Both are suitable for divers of all levels.
Shaab Claudio and Shaab Maksour invite in a little more adventure, with otherworldly yet accessible caverns at Claudio and wild walls at Maksour. Thirty dives and an Advanced Open Water certification are recommended for both. Please note night dives are prohibited within the marine parks, so we’ve scheduled ours for this beautiful area!
As the boat ventures farther offshore, the underwater world shifts. Elphinstone and Daedalus Reef offer the very best of Red Sea diving — dramatic walls, vibrant coral, and exhilarating big sea encounters. Both sites are known for their stronger currents, crystal-clear visibility, and the chance to see large marine life, especially oceanic whitetip sharks and hammerheads. These sites require a minimum of fifty dives and an Advanced Open Water certification. If you’ve been to Komodo or the Maldives Deep South with us, you’ve got this! Both areas are considered significantly more challenging than Red Sea sites like Daedalus or Elphinstone.

Where We’ll Stay + What We’ll Eat
For seven nights, we’ll be aboard Omneia Soul, the liveaboard with heart and soul! Alex spent years searching for the perfect Egypt liveaboard, and she knew she found it when she laid eyes on the newest addition to the Omneia fleet. Big surprise, this vessel is owned, designed and operated by a woman 😉
There are fifteen stylish cabins onboard, so this will be a bustling retreat group — okay, we’ll have a PJ party if you insist! All cabins have air conditioning, en suite bathrooms with hot showers.
Another true wellness retreat at sea, every corner of this beautiful vessel is designed with your comfort and relaxation in mind. This yacht boasts a massage room, a dedicated camera and photography station, and an expansive dive deck. When you’re not unwinding in your cabin, the Soul also provides various lounge areas — whether you prefer air-conditioned comfort, a shaded spot, or basking in full sun to work on that tan! Use the free wifi to send dispatches to loved ones back home, or go on airplane mode and get lost in a great book. On the main deck, there’s a beautiful dining area alongside a spacious outdoor lounge. The upper deck features an expansive sky deck lined with comfy couches and beanbags, ideal for post-dive stories and cocktails from the well-stocked bar. Plus, there’s a large sky deck with horizon views and a whirlpool for sunset toasts.
Throughout the retreat, all meals are included and we’ll have an expert chef team cooking up nourishing curated dishes served with a view. If this is your first trip to Egypt, you’ll get the chance to try the local cuisine with two speciality Egyptian nights! If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, just let us know and they’ll take care of the rest. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are included. For those looking to indulge further, wine and cocktails are available for purchase once you’re done diving for the day.

Is It Safe To Travel to Egypt?
Egypt in 2026? We’re moving forward with full confidence! We simply wouldn’t host these retreats in good conscience if we didn’t believe it was the right time to go based on the reality on the ground.
Here is a transparent look at why:
Geography + Safety: While Egypt is culturally part of the Middle East, it is geographically a massive North African nation, with the entirety of Sinai buffering the rest of the country, where these three trips take place, from neighboring Israel and Jordan. The areas we visit are hundreds of miles away from any bordering conflict and the country has a firm, long-standing policy of not hosting any foreign military bases on its soil.
Official Standing: The US State Department currently ranks Egypt at a Level 2 Travel Advisory — the exact same safety tier assigned to France, the UK, and the Bahamas. The US Embassy in Cairo remains fully open and operational.
Flight Security: Notably, Egyptian airspace remains entirely unaffected and open, and recent flight radars show that Egypt remains a busy, stable hub.
Connection Concerns: Stopovers giving you the cancellation jitters? No sweat! New direct flight paths from the US to Cairo are launching this year with Egypt Air, meaning more options for a secure flight path with no need for a stop over. Direct flights currently connect Cairo with New York and Washington, adding Los Angeles in May, and Chicago in June. Alex has been flying the JFK to CAI route to reach these retreats for years (it’s a great business class redemption value for our points loving ladies, too!) Europe also offers countless connections to Cairo and the Red Sea.
A Growing Welcome: Rather than slowing down, Egypt is leaning into its role as a global cultural hub the energy on the ground is electric with major events like Sandbox, Zamna, the Cairo Film Festival, and the massive EXIT Festival at the Pyramids all moving forward as scheduled.
Extend Your Adventure
Can’t imagine coming all the way to Egypt without seeing the Pyramids or exploring uncharted desert oases? We’ve crafted an incredible “triple-threat” of back-to-back retreats to cover this country from city to desert, and from river to sea. Join us for one (or both!) of the land-based journeys that bookend our magical week at sea.
Multi-Trip Magic: When booking two or more of our Egypt retreats, we’ll include your transfers and a bridge-night stay so you don’t have to lift a finger — a total value of over $300! — just relax and let the journey unfold seamlessly.
Undiscovered Egypt | September 16-23
Start your journey a week earlier with the first of our three retreats — Wander Women Undiscovered Egypt. Designed for those who want to scratch beneath the surface and explore Egypt’s wild, untouched corners, this is your opportunity to see the country through a new lens. Picture an after-hours “night at the museum” experience, sunrise yoga on the dunes, and walks through desert oases lined with date palms. Between campfire nights under a blanket of stars and chilling seaside in a hip coastal town, this week is the perfect grounding prelude to our time at sea.
Signature Egypt | October 2-11
For those who want to keep the magic alive, the journey continues seamlessly into our classic Wander Women Signature Egypt retreat. This is our deep dive into the country’s legendary history — temples, tombs, and iconic sights — woven together with yoga and soulful cultural immersion. While Undiscovered Egypt highlights the quiet, wilder side of the land, Ancient Egypt brings you face-to-face with its awe-inspiring past, offering the perfect balance to your desert and sea adventures.
Logistics + Transitions — Whether you choose one extension or both, we coordinate the logistics to ensure a smooth, stress-free transition. Experience Egypt in layers, at an unhurried pace, and in true Wander Women style.

Join Us
This is our first liveaboard in Egypt and anticipation is high — book soon to secure your preferred room type! Your deposit will be the first of five total payments for this trip, spread into convenient monthly installments.
That said, this trip requires a minimum number of guests to run. We will notify you when it is a guaranteed departure. Until then, please do not book non-refundable airfare.
Can’t make this one? Don’t sweat — sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when enrollment opens on future retreats. Don’t hesitate to email us at retreats@alexinwanderland.com with any and all questions or concerns over if this is the right retreat for you. We’re always here to chat.
F.A.Q.
Is this trip women only?
This one’s for the girls! Our guest continue to tell us how much they love taking time to dive with just women in this male-dominated industry. We are so proud of the supportive, empowering vibe of our dive retreats and know that you’ll love them, too!
Is there an age requirement?
You must be 18 years or older for this retreat. We love the age diversity of the Wander Women community, which includes travelers ages 18 to 68! We get a lot of questions from those concerned they will be the oldest or youngest on a retreat — all are welcome, truly.
So does non-refundable really mean non-refundable?
Yes, all payments are non-refundable. If the trip must be postponed or canceled due to events beyond our control, you will be offered the choice between a full refund and applying your payments to a future trip.
The reason payments are non-refundable is that we start incurring costs from the moment someone presses “book” — from credit card fees to high hourly wages for our team who correspond with guests, manage trip inventory and our e-commerce platform, analyze forms to create room assignments, coordinate with our local vendors, and beyond.
There’s nothing we want more than for our guests to take and enjoy the travel they have worked hard and paid for. Thank you so much for your understanding and respect of our need to enforce this policy strictly. We want to be here to travel with you for years to come!
Will I need travel and dive insurance?
Yes, it is mandatory for all Wander Women Retreat guests to have personal travel and dive insurance for the duration of the trip, either through a travel insurance provider such as World Nomads, or an industry specific membership insurance such as Divers Alert Network (DAN). World Nomads offers coverage at affordable rates. It is mandatory to book your travel insurance as soon as you make your trip deposit to protect your investment, and for those who want ultimate flexibility, we suggest a “Cancel For Any Reason” (CFAR) policy. This allows you to make your own decisions about travel regardless of official advisories. More information will be provided upon booking.
Do I need a visa?
A tourist visa is necessary for entering Egypt and can be purchased at the airport on arrival for some nationalities — including USA, UK and Australia. Alternatively you can apply for an e-visa online prior to arrival, they cost $30 USD and are valid for visits up to 30 days. We are happy to help you navigate any specific questions or concerns, and more information will be provided upon booking.

Can we talk dive certifications again?
We know, it’s a bit complex! To make the most of every moment of this retreat, we recommend stepping onboard with your Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives, so that you will meet the individual requirements for each dive site.
A minimum of 30 dives are legally required to board a liveaboard in Egypt, but if you are between 30 and 50 dives, you will be able to enjoy all but five of our dives onboard.
A virtual PADI Enriched Air Diver certification with our very own Rayna will be available for those wishing to enjoy the complimentary included nitrox onboard, which we highly recommend for safe and comfortable repetitive liveaboard diving. And an Advanced Open Water certification will be available onboard for those who wish to get the full experience.
Details for both will be provided upon booking. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to discuss your skill and cert level and if they’re the right fit for this trip!
I’m not a diver, can I come and snorkel instead?
While there is amazing snorkeling in the Red Sea, this liveaboard will focus primarily on seeking out the best possible dive sites. The Soul has only one support dinghy for transport, which means there won’t always be the option to snorkel from the same location, and swimming and snorkeling are prohibited in the Daedalus Reef and Elphinstone Reef marine parks. Additionally, the intimate size does not offer the same spa opportunities as other liveaboards we have chartered. While diving certainly isn’t mandatory, we think divers will get the most value out of this trip.
Is this a safe vessel?
Liveaboard safety is top of mind for us anywhere in the world. The Omneia Soul is considered one of the safest liveaboards in the Red Sea for many reasons, including modern construction, redundant systems, and strict operational protocols.
The Soul is a state-of-the-art steel ship that was was custom-designed for diving rather than being a retrofitted vessel, and is equipped with a cutting edge ENOS system. Every diver is given a GPS transmitter that allows the boat to locate them instantly if they surface far from the reef. All major technical equipment is available in duplicate form, including motors, generators, and compressors, and The boat features dedicated emergency exits on cabin decks, smoke detectors throughout, and a large number of fire extinguishers. To minimize the risk of fire there is a designated camera and battery charging area on the dive deck monitored by crew and a camera system, and at least one mechanic is on watch 24/7, including during the night, to monitor these systems. Learn more about Omneia’s incredible commitment to diver safety here!
Are the animal encounters ethical?
Yes! This is important to us too. The Omneia Soul operates under the strict environmental and safety regulations of the Chamber of Diving and Watersports (CDWS) and HEPCA. Briefings on ethical shark and dolphin interactions are provided before these encounters. At Sataya Reef, Wander Women pays an entrance tax which contributes to the management of the zoning system and supervision by park rangers who enforce the regulations and fine those breaking the rules to keep these animals safe.
Dang these inclusions are fire. How much money do I need to bring?
We know, right?! You can BYO alcohol for a corkage fee of $12 per bottle, or opt for onboard options like $25-30 per bottle wine, $4.50 beer, and $6 cocktails. Tipping is a recommended $200-250 for the liveaboard staff at the end of the trip. Full price lists for onboard gear rentals, bar menus and more will be sent before departure.
Do I need to be good at yoga?
Absolutely not. (And frankly, we don’t believe in the idea of being “good” at yoga!) We have a range of yogis from brand-new beginners to talented instructors join us on our trips. You’ll get the opportunity to sample a range of yoga styles, and you can opt in or out of as many classes as you wish.
Will there be downtime?
This is your retreat and we want you to make it exactly what you want! That being said, there’s a lot to see and experience, so there will generally always be something happening on the itinerary. However, want this to be a FOMO-free journey, so activities will not overlap! Still, any time you want to bow out (boat joke!) to have some “me-time” or do your own thing, you go girl.

I love dogs.
Omg us too! The owner’s golden retriever, Hatschi, sometimes joins charters. (If you’re allergic or otherwise opposed, don’t stress! You’ll have the chance to let us know privately beforehand, and Hatschi can enjoy a week on land.)
