Citibank is still running the same bait and switch. I was told on the phone when I signed up that my promotion was $7,000 spend over 3 months for 70,000 miles I found out after I received the card that they signed me up for $10,000 spend over 3 months for 100,000 miles. I complained and got a letter that said too bad you are signed up for the $10,000 spend and there is nothing we can do. The worst part about this is I know they are doing this hoping that consumers will not find out and miss out on any points all together.

Thank you for posting this, I found it and just filed it with the CFPB. Here was my complaint:

I was applying for a American Airlines Advantage/Citibank Credit Card. The promotion from the American Airlines website and was for 75,000 bonus miles after spending $2500 on the card over the first three months. When I received the card, it said that I was only granted 50,000 bonus miles. I had many conversations with Citibank and they told me to send a letter with the original offer so it would be resolved. I received a letter dated July 20 2022 that I was not eligible to receive the offer because "the offer to receive 75,000 bonus miles was not solicited directly to" me. Why would they be advertising the 75,000 bonus miles all over the internet if it was only eligible to those that were directly solicited, that makes no sense and if that is the case, it is extremely deceptive marketing. I called Citibank on July 25 to resolve this and they directed me to the small print on the offer that reads, "Your eligibility for a particular product and service is subject to a final determination by Citibank". This was the explanation, that since I wasn't directly solicited, this catch-all language meant that Citibank was able to change their offer to only 50,000 bonus miles. This is not acceptable to me. I have excellent credit and there is no reason why I should not have received this widely promoted offer. Thank you for your help

In reply to <a href="https://www.alexinwanderland.com/how-citibank-screwed-me/#comment-415091">Alex</a>.

I'm having major issue with citibank and their "security measures." I have an account that is used to pay my fixed expenses- I put just enough in there each month so that I don't have to worry and it has emergency funds attached to it. So... I don't want a debit card for it. But they insist I have mohave one, and they hate Mint. Got locked out for the fourth time, so I caved and went and got a debit card so I could at least see my balance.
But I can't. Why? They want me to type MY ENTIRE ACCOUNT NUMBER to log back in. I'm like you- why would I keep paper statements around the house? I just log in to keep track. So... I can't GET my account number because I CAN't SiIGN IN without it.

Hey Tony! I'm happy to hear your story had a happy ending you didn't have to fight too hard for! Yay for more transparency from banks and financial institutions :) Did you end up doing the nitrox training?
