This post marks the final week in this particular chapter of my travels. After five months and four countries, I am headed back to New York for some much-needed family and friend time, as well a bit of work and health business to take care of.
At the moment I’m dying to write a big, verbose post about all the emotions that are spilling out of me at this most significant moment — but I have none. Either it hasn’t sunk in yet, or I’ve gotten so used to the slithering between my life on the road and my life at home that it doesn’t really phase me anymore. Let’s see how I feel when that plane door closes.
Meanwhile, here are the Photo of the Week candidates from the final week of my trip. It was spent blissing out in Bali, doing some hotel reviews, relaxing after a hectic month of coursework, celebrating the completion of my divemaster, and spending a little extra time with someone I didn’t want to say goodbye to. After three days exploring Ubud, Bali’s cultural heart, we went directly to the beach to indulge in an all-inclusive resort in Nusa Dua. As always I can’t wait to share more. But for now….
Balinese temples are beautiful, unique, and around absolutely every corner of the island, it seems.
You can never have too many photos of monkeys, right? Hence a visit to The Monkey Temple Forest in Ubud.
Ubud is infamous for its spas and I can see why — a massage, body scrub, manicure and pedicure cost less than thirty dollars!
And finally, four days of absolute relaxation and bliss at The Grand Mirage.
Which photo is your favorite?
My favorite is Photo A! I love the style of architecture! Hope you have a safe trip home and enjoy the time with your family 🙂
Thank you so much Melanie! I think its so important to keep those bonds at home strong…
The monkey on the statue is my favourite photo! The more I learn about Bali, the more I am SO sure I need to go there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. 🙂
I feel the same way… one week there was not nearly enough!
Photo A! The intricacy of the photo on the left is unreal.
Thanks Kaitie! It’s actually one photo, but looking at it again I can see why you say that… there’s a serious vertical cut down the middle!
Enjoy your family time! Gonna miss your travel posts, Alex 🙂
I think Photo D(Right) would be the right conclusion of this “chapter”.
Don’t worry… there are many more headed your way! Still have the rest of the Philippines, Singapore and Bali to blog about… and by then my next adventure will have started 🙂
I absolutely can’t wait for your posts on Indonesia! This glimpse has me dying to go.
My vote is for Photo A; I’m a sucker for temples surrounded by jungle.
Enjoy your time back in the States!
Thanks Ashley! I’ll be back on the international road before you know it, but until then I have a few domestic trips up my sleeve as well 🙂
The monkeys! My husband is always exasperated at how many photos I take whenever I see monkeys…but they are just so cute! You’re absolutely right, you can NEVER have too many monkey pics 🙂
And they are just the most perfect models… those expressions! I think they love the camera attention 🙂
Bali sounds WOW… (as does everywhere you go).. but I do hope you enjoy and cherish your time back in NY.
Hmm.. I’ll choose C. I could really go for a spa day in paradise =)
Thank you Kristen, that is such a sweet sentiment! I always love my time back at home… it really does keep me balanced!
The spa looks like a dream! I’m sure it will be nice to see your family again.
It’s “only” been five months but that seems like a long time when its time away from loved ones! I always love my family and friend time 🙂
Photo D!! I just love the beach, this is just a personal choice, although I was torn between two choices.
Thanks for voting! Clearly, I share your love of all things sandy!
This post, however beautiful, makes me feel like Breaking Bad just ended! Haha. Have fun back in NY, next page in the ongoing story. Peace and love! Photo B is awesome haha 🙂
Jessie, as a die hard Breaking Bad fan I couldn’t be more flattered by this comment! 🙂 However, as you said it’s just the next page… I have some fun domestic trips coming up and then I’m actually back on the road sooner than I had expected… plans to be revealed soon! In the meantime, I have tons more posts about this latest trip to come!
Awesome! Can’t wait to read them! 🙂
I love the photo D, I just need something like that right now. Enjoy your time in NY, can’t wait for your plans to be revealed. I hope it’s Asia again;)
Hopefully I’ll announce late next week, I’m just waiting for some things to fall into place…. But you know that Asia is the place I just can’t quit 😉
I love the exotic nature of all of these photos, but the last set really touches my heart. That is my version of paradise right there. I immediately felt myself relax just from looking at the picture!
Thanks Jen! I think it is the dream of any photographer to evoke an emotion in their reader — so I really love this comment 🙂
Alex you have done such an amazing work always. I must say i am falling in love the way you work and express things on your blog 🙂 Hey girl enjoy your time with family !
Thanks Ash! I appreciate your support!
