Five and a half months, twenty-three and a half weeks, one hundred and sixty-four days — however you say it, I’ve been away from the great state of New York for quite some time. I returned home a few short days ago to a blanket of snow and a flurry of bad news, but I’m here. And it feels very much like this is where I need to be.
For next week I’ll have to find a way to creatively photograph myself unpacking and sitting on my laptop, since my plans don’t extend far beyond that. But for now, we can look back on the last seven days of my time in California — my final morning in Palm Springs, and onto the Bay Area to visit my friend Abby and spend a day exploring San Francisco.

Which photo is your favorite?
Love the photo of you and your friends and as a Lover of all things New Zealand – the fern fronds caught my eye on the food piccie.
Maybe you can give me some insight into California – I would love to scuba dive there in a Kelp Forest, have you done it?
Hey Janice, unfortunately there was no diving for me on this trip! I didn’t make it down to San Diego, which I think it the epicenter of the kelp forest diving. I would love to get there someday though!
Loving the bright, bold pictures. It’s really emblematic of San Fran. I had a great time there and haven’t met anyone who hasn’t!
I first went there when I was probably 12, so it was great to return as a (kind of) grown up 🙂 Such a good city!
Photo C: I love farmer’s markets!
This one was actually a mushroom boutique inside the Ferry building in San Francisco! But farmer’s markets are great too 🙂
Photo A — as an Angeleno, I have seen that Ace sign photographed many many times but never with it reflected in the hood of a car. Creative points for you!!
Boo for bad news. Sending good vibes your way…
Thanks girl. I’m not trying to vague blog, I just need to see how some things play out before I am ready to write about them. But it’s all just the usual sad stories, people getting sick, deals going wrong, etc. :/
Photo B – no bad news there.
Thanks Rick, it was a fun day 🙂
B =) and I love your friend’s dress! The one that came and met you in S.A. (forget her name) cute cute!
It’s Zoe, and yes she is a complete cutie 🙂
Photo Booth Fun gets my vote this week!
Thanks Caity! I’m a HUGE photo booth fan — I think every wedding should have one.
My favorite is Photo B! It just really shows that you had a really fun time in California! 🙂
We really did! That wedding was the catalyst for the whole trip and I’m so grateful for it.
California misses you!! Thank you so much for that great picture of me lol. That was SUCH a fun day… We totally ate our way through SF!!!
I think I’m still dreaming about that bread and cheese…. bring me back.
I like photo D. I would love to visit Alcatraz and definitely plan on doing so…hopefully 🙂
There is some seriously cool history there… it’s a must do!
Photo C is missing eye of newt!
Hmmm, as a non mushroom eater I can’t say I even know what that is 🙂
Abby Abby Abby!
She’s a cutie, isn’t she! 🙂
I am choosing B. It shows good times with friends.
Thanks Steve! A lot of happy memories in that photo 🙂
Agreeing with everyone here, Photo B is just so much cuteness!
Ha, that wasn’t what I expected to be the winner this week but I love it!
Photo B: I just love your creativity and willingness to experiment with photos!
Aw, thanks Amanda! This project always pushes me to be a bit more creative 🙂
Love photo D. The plant looks amazing!
I LOVE those succulents. They grow everywhere in California!
Photo A is gorgeous. Really cool twist with the reflection. It just needs a cheesy inspirational quote written over it! Hope things perk up… xx
Thanks Lucy! I’m sure they will… spring is coming, and with it happy things! I can feel it x
A for Ace is definitely my favourite!
I love me some reflection shots 🙂
