Apologies for any technical difficulties you’ve had accessing Alex in Wanderland this week! Posts have been showing up early, disappearing entirely, and generally just brazenly misbehaving. Hopefully we’ll have things back under control soon, and I appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Greetings from 20,000 feet! I’m currently en route to my next adventure (check Instagram to see where I’m headed!) but New York still feels fresh in my mind. I ended up spending less than twenty-four hours in my beloved Brooklyn, choosing to do the responsible thing and stay Upstate to focus on work for the week instead — a rare show of self-restraint, indeed. But considering I still barely tackled a fraction of my to-do list, I know I made the right choice. There’s no way I’d be able to enjoy the week ahead if I hadn’t. Though I was mostly working from sun up to sun down, I did sneak in some tough workouts, fun Tucker time, and much-needed dinner dates with friends. I also got to celebrate my mom’s sixtieth birthday with her, which was a great party and a wonderful occasion to be around in person for.
In keeping with my nose-to-the-grindstone, er, nose-to-the-laptop theme, I didn’t didn’t take out my dSLR all week. So I hope you’ll enjoy these fun iPhone snaps instead…

LA readers! I’m going to be setting up a reader meetup for either June 19th or 20th. If you haven’t already let me know you’re interested, drop me a note in the comments. I’ll be sending out an email this week!
Photo A. I love cityscapes π
Especially ones with a bunch of green! π
Photo B – because dogs are the best and he looks so content!
He’s my baby π
Love photo A! Where’d you get that sweet view from?
My bestie Kristin’s boyfriend’s apartment π What a view!
Photo B…Tucker is so cute!
You’re always going to win points with that compliment π
Photo B – I can only imagine what Tucker is looking for.
Just feeling the wind beneath his wings — er, ears, I guess π
I am new to your blog and I really like the pictures you have taken. So what were your initial fears about starting independent travel? And just curious, what sports did you play growing up? (I often use it as an icebreaker because I enjoy sports).
Ha, I didn’t really play sports growing up π I was never very athletically inclined, though I tried soccer, ballet and all the usual suspects at some point! Regarding my fears about international travel… check out my archives page, one of my first posts is titled, if memory serves, “Fears.” π
PHOTO B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know the way to my heart!
I gotta go with A, but it was a toss up with B!
I understand the struggle π
A — I love an overhead shot of the greatest park in the whole world! This angle best captures the miracle that is a lush stretch of green in the middle of a mad city.
I love flying over it too. Such a miracle that park still stands… what a refuge for tired concrete-d out city folks π
Photo A! Absolutely stunning
Thanks Naomi! It’s quite the view…
Is it too much of a cop out to say all of them? The park among the skyscrapers is amazing and shows the crazy balance of NYC, Tucker is adorably tuckered out, and the colors in the sky are phenomenal in C! So yes, even if it’s not allowed – all of them.
You rule breaker you π
I absolutely love your website. The past week I have spent hours upon hours reading old posts (especially the ones on Panama as I start my own solo travel there soon), these pictures are great, but I have a love affair with Central Park so count me in for A
Hey Nick! Glad you found me. You’re going to love Panama! Thanks so much for the kudos and kind words.
So pretty, crazy to believe that these are taken on the iPhone. Looks like NYC was fun, excited for your trip out to California! xx
I love the iPhone! And I still have the 5s… I can only imagine what the 6 can do!
Happy travel blogaversary! I love your blog so much!
Thanks Emma! Big post coming up soon π
All of them are great, but Photo B tugs at the ole heartstrings. Gotta love our loyal four-legged best friends π
I miss him this week, Shelly! My little buddy….
Awww no- I don’t leave Beijing and move to CA until 23rd June so I can’t make the meet up. Oh well- next time I guess! Oh and photo A is my pick for this week!
Aw, bummer Joella! Well, I’m sure I’ll be back in LA soon and we can touch base then π
I can’t choose!! I like them all and now I miss NY even more!
I miss New York whenever I’m away, too π It always has a piece of my heart!
I’m a sucker for Tucker, but you know that already π
Hello & have a niceDay from Simancas-Spain : )
I think that “Airplanes painting the sky over Brooklyn” is my favorite, so the blue sky it was wonderful and because the man was on stairs, is the human thing between the dark buildings and the heaven : )
rgds,

Beautiful interpretation π Thanks for chiming in!
