Today I watched a rain storm come towards me. I was working on the porch and heard the distinct sound of rain, though the ground in front of me was dry. I stepped outside and could see a sheet of rain pouring over the mountains in front of me. Not just a gray cloud in the distance- this was close enough that I could see the individual drops of rain, yet I remained dry. A few moments later and I was back on the porch, standing in the eye of the storm. Lately I’ve been feeling grateful for the closeness to nature that island living provides, hence my selection for Photo of the Week.

One of the dive shops that I film for has the most beautiful frangipani flowers lining the walk to the beach. The weather has been pretty temperamental lately, so when the sky is blue like this I try to look up and appreciate it more. And I get some great views, like this one.

In Other News:

• Mark and I found out this week that we are both winners of the Women Diver’s Hall of Fame 2012 training grants. This is huge, huge news and I have a lot more to say on the subject. But I couldn’t resist sharing quickly right away!

• I’ve been busy this week with site updates large and small. Those of you who click over from your email subscription or RSS reader may have noticed some cosmetic changes to my layout as well as some new pages. My brand new Gear and Products page includes my recommendations for photography equipment, travel gear, and blogging products. The links on that page to Amazon earn me a percentage of the sale on anything you purchase after entering the site through that link, even if it isn’t the product I linked to. So if you want to buy your next L series camera lens or semesters worth of textbooks through there, I’ll be eternally grateful! Take a look!

• I was featured again on Lost Girls, this time in a roundup of the editor’s personal blogs. Check it out!

Happy Sunday, everyone.

Congrats on your award!!! Your story gets better every day. Your father sure enjoyed his time “DOWN THERE”. Still talking about it, even as busy as he is. I had a great birthday – even though I don’t enjoy the “tarnished Golden years”.

Thanks Gram! I’m glad your birthday was great. I’m so sorry I didn’t call… it’s tough with the 12 hour time difference. I’m glad Dad is still blabbing about the trip 🙂

  • What an awesome week you had my dear!!!!!
