This week I’m back in New York City visiting with friends, applying for another Thai visa, running errands, and awaiting my flight back to Bangkok on Wednesday. My biggest reason for being here, though, was to attend Beneath The Sea, the US’s biggest consumer dive show and also the venue for accepting my grant from the Women Diver’s Hall of Fame. I haven’t told you much about this grant yet (I will! I promise!) but I must say it was a major honor, and I want to commemorate this moment in my year with a dedicated Photo of the Week.
Photo A
This photo shows my award certificate along with one of the earrings my dad gave me for Christmas. It’s a tiny scuba diving photographer, and you wouldn’t believe the amount of compliments I got on it over the weekend. Can you think of something more appropriate for me?!
Photo B
So, yeah, both these photos are basically the same but I find shooting still-life to be very difficult and couldn’t decide which I liked better. Plus I’m not sure if you can tell that the little earring-people are divers in this photo as their tiny tanks aren’t showing!
So, which of these incredibly similar photos do you think should be Photo of the Week? Thanks for voting!

In other news, don’t forget to check out Part II of my guest post on And Then She Saved about how to save money while traveling. It’s filled to the brim with little tips and tricks!
Congrats! Both of my favorite travel blogging females (you and Andi) have posted great news this week!
I like the second picture. The earrings are more in focus and brighter.
I just read Andi’s post! Very exciting. My only concern with my second photo is you couldn’t tell that the little photographers had scuba tanks on their backs, ha.
First of all, congratulations on the grant, that’s incredible! Can’t wait to hear more about it. As for the photos, I like the second picture better – it has a more appropriate depth of field for the subject in my opinion.
Thanks so much, John! It’s been an exciting part of my year. And thanks for the photo input!
Congratulations from across the pond.
I prefer number 2 as well.
Thank you! As I mentioned in another comment, my only concern is you can’t tell the earrings are divers in photo 2!
Can’t wait to hear more about the grant and safe travels back to Bangkok!
Thanks Amanda! I’m weirdly looking forward to the plane journey (20ish hours) as the first time I’ll relax and unplug since my flight here!
It’s been said before, but I like #2 too. You can tell what the earrings are more easily.
Hi Jeff! Thanks for the vote and the comment!
I like em both. Congrats again and it was great for Liv and me to share the moment with you
It meant so much to have you guys there 🙂
