Manchester Underwater
On our way back from Ibiza Mark and I stopped in Manchester for two nights to recover and squeeze in a bit more time with our friends. Weeks before I had excitedly flipped through the Manchester section in Lonely Planet in anticipation of our weekend there. I looked forward to seeing Old Trafford, putting on a Man United shirt and maybe visiting the Lowry Museum in Salford. Guess how much of the city I saw?
The inside of two apartment buildings.
And it was great. We hung out, cooked (well, I didn’t cook obviously), we slept, we laughed, and did a lot of nothing. The one exception was the afternoon we spent at the rooftop pool of one of the girl’s apartments. I couldn’t believe that someone my age was able to afford such an amazing place, and I started to see why Manchester is considered preferable by some to pricey London.
It was an overcast day but you can still tell what an amazing view there is.
These twins are two of Mark’s best friends from growing up. He considers them family and it was so great to spend the week in Ibiza getting to know them better.
They are basically the best underwater models ever. Don’t you agree?
I must have made them swim towards me a hundred times trying to get a good shot of everyone. I think they look best as a series where you can see the movement of the group getting closer to the camera.
I am completely incapable of opening my eyes in a pool and thus I am much better suited to being behind the camera. Mark on the other hand manages to look like a supermodel underwater.
Victoria is not too bad herself.
This picture of Mark diving in is one of my favorite photos of the day. Look at that detail!
I put the camera in underwater mode while I was shooting, but we were quite shallow. Thus in some of these photos, the colors were super red and looked much better converted into black and white.
Others were just right in color.
So I didn’t see too much of Manchester. But the view was pretty nice from here. Sometimes its nice to take a break from travel and just… live.

Amazing. Beautiful. Wow. Superlatives don’t do these photos justice. You gotta start submitting some of these.

What kind of camera did you use?
Thanks Danielle! I use a simple point and shoot setup of a canon powershot 1300 and the associated canon underwater housing. I love it!
These photos look amazing, can’t believe you’re using a point&shoot! Really awesome.
Thanks guys! You’ll be seeing a lot more underwater stuff soon…
Really nice underwater photos! Shame you never got to explore Manchester though.
Funny you comment on this now, I was just skyping with these Manchester girls last night! I was saying that we absolutely must come back and spend some more time with them there. I’m looking forward to it whenever it happens!
