It’s been another week of uneventful island life, where the most exciting moments include seaside massages and the low points include gecko poop in the bed. I’ve been slammed with freelance jobs, and am so grateful that I’m taking it easy this month and staying put somewhere so that I have time to tackle it all. What a blessing to be so busy with work I enjoy so much!
It’s amazing, too, how much time is left over when you strip away commutes and cooking and laundry and all the mundane tasks that are either irrelevant or outsourced on Gili Trawangan. This week, I spent those extra moments going diving, taking a bike ride around the island, having long lunches with friends, and oh yes — one extremely glorious seaside massage.
One of the horses that plies the streets, the view from my bed
Bannerfish peeking through some sea grass
Highlights from a beach walk
A suspicious turtle
A well camouflaged grasshopper, a colorful vignette
Bintangs and sunsets with South Sea Nomads
Which photo is your favorite?
All of them are gorgeous, but I’m going with C!
I know from your posts that you love a good beach walk as well 🙂
Definitely, Photo F! beautiful story telling. Makes me wonder where did the couple go during this beautiful sunset 😉
Yup, those artfully strewn Bintang bottles give what my art professors used to call “the human element…” makes landscapes much more enticing!
I recently took a yoga class outside in the grass where the yoga instructor kept saying good job on earth, mother nature. Your pictures definitely display that quote. If I have to pick which I don’t want to they are all awesome B for the colors or D for an animal I love
Aw, I love that quote, thanks Breanna! I’m going to try to say that out loud often 🙂
All your photos are brilliant as usual. If I were to choose I would plump for B.
Thank you so much Steve! I appreciate that!
So jealous of the view from your bed! But I’m going to go with Photo E with the grasshopper. Such pretty colors!
I love that one. I was so happy to spot that little guy!
Alex you are killing me here with all these beautiful turtle shots. That’s it I am coming to Gili T asap.See you in a bit =) But first I’m gonna surprise you with my vote…it’s C. love the beautiful shell.already admired it when you posted it on instagram.
Thanks Caty! Yup, you got me there by the way…. so many photos I post these days are iPhone photos! It’s really amazing how much such a little camera can do!
Very cool shots all around but that’s gotta be the world’s tiniest crab!
I love those little guys, you can find them all over around here. One day one crawled out of my dive gear while I was on the boat!
beautiful, beautiful B
Thanks Gram 🙂
B by a mile. Wow!
Looks like this weeks’ winner! Glad everyone enjoys 🙂
I will always choose the UW work unless it is really poor. I LOVE Sea Turtles (looks like a Green) so the nod goes to D.
That is a funky color (green?) on the Bannerfish! Were the rear ends really green?
Thanks Ron! No it wasn’t really green, definitely the typical yellow color. That shot was just taken quite deep so the colors are distorted, and I was being lazy about color correcting in Photoshop 🙂
I’m going to side with your dad on this one…B for beautiful bannerfish!!
Thanks Rika! And yes, perfect (unintentional) labeling this week!
Pretty colors this week but I’m going with B – cool composition.
Thanks Cat! Or perhaps I should thank the bannerfish for being such good models this week…
I think they are, as always, all so unique. Ur camera eye is Mind blowing. I will go with B! Although the view from ur bed is pretty neat. Nice was to wake up. Poop in ur bed? Not cool. Love the long lunches & not in a crowded, noisy city. Seaside massage going on ‘the list’!!
Thanks Aunt Karen! And yes, let’s do beach side massages next time I’m in town — I’m sure we can find them in Florida!
F all the way! – you just know it was a good day.
It was indeed 🙂 Thanks Shaun!
B, then F! All quite wonderful. Those massages sound like perfection.
I am dying for one today, but have promised myself that I won’t until I get all my work done 🙂
All of them!!
All of the photos are so beautiful! And I love that they are all so different so they really give a good overall picture of your days. If I HAD to pick one though….I think I’d go with C, because I love doing the same thing!
Thanks Dana! It was a good week for photography and I managed to pull my camera out a lot 🙂
Alex, I like both B and F . In “B” I could swear those ” critters” are having a conversation, and “F” to me; “says it all”. Both reflective of a diverse photographer. real Talent !
