It’s been another week of uneventful island life, where the most exciting moments include seaside massages and the low points include gecko poop in the bed. I’ve been slammed with freelance jobs, and am so grateful that I’m taking it easy this month and staying put somewhere so that I have time to tackle it all. What a blessing to be so busy with work I enjoy so much!

It’s amazing, too, how much time is left over when you strip away commutes and cooking and laundry and all the mundane tasks that are either irrelevant or outsourced on Gili Trawangan. This week, I spent those extra moments going diving, taking a bike ride around the island, having long lunches with friends, and oh yes — one extremely glorious seaside massage.

Yup, those artfully strewn Bintang bottles give what my art professors used to call “the human element…” makes landscapes much more enticing!

I recently took a yoga class outside in the grass where the yoga instructor kept saying good job on earth, mother nature. Your pictures definitely display that quote. If I have to pick which I don’t want to they are all awesome B for the colors or D for an animal I love

Aw, I love that quote, thanks Breanna! I’m going to try to say that out loud often 🙂

All your photos are brilliant as usual. If I were to choose I would plump for B.

I will always choose the UW work unless it is really poor. I LOVE Sea Turtles (looks like a Green) so the nod goes to D.
That is a funky color (green?) on the Bannerfish! Were the rear ends really green?

    • Alex
      July 23 2013

Thanks Ron! No it wasn’t really green, definitely the typical yellow color. That shot was just taken quite deep so the colors are distorted, and I was being lazy about color correcting in Photoshop 🙂

  • I’m going to side with your dad on this one…B for beautiful bannerfish!!

I think they are, as always, all so unique. Ur camera eye is Mind blowing. I will go with B! Although the view from ur bed is pretty neat. Nice was to wake up. Poop in ur bed? Not cool. Love the long lunches & not in a crowded, noisy city. Seaside massage going on ‘the list’!!

All of the photos are so beautiful! And I love that they are all so different so they really give a good overall picture of your days. If I HAD to pick one though….I think I’d go with C, because I love doing the same thing!

Alex, I like both B and F . In “B” I could swear those ” critters” are having a conversation, and “F” to me; “says it all”. Both reflective of a diverse photographer. real Talent !
