Where is the time going? I knew that my time in Gili Trawangan working towards my Divemaster would fly by, but yet the days are slipping through my fingers faster than I ever imagined possible. Let’s just say it is a very good thing that I have firm obligations waiting at home or I might be stuck on this island for quite some time…
So at this moment I’m trying to console myself my making summer plans. I have some fun celebrations to look forward to, like watching my sister Olivia’s graduation and being in my friend Justine’s wedding. I’m also trying to plan some short getaways to break up my time stateside, like a possible international bachelorette party and a getaway with my hometown girlfriends — maybe something indulgent like a cruise or an all-inclusive. Whatever the future holds — I know it’s going to be a good time!

You guys aren’t going to get sick of seeing turtle pictures, right?
Photo E
…. because I have a feeling there are many more to come!
Which photo is your favorite?
I have to go with D and the turtle again! I love that little guy peeking out!
Your view every morning is a close second. That must put a smile on your face first thing.
It was definitely the selling point for me for that apartment! I have no sink and the worst shower on the island… but hey, I’ve got that view! 🙂
B!!
Yes, those ARE firm obligations in New York thank you!
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten the missive that no one is meant to pay attention to me and take away from your special day 🙂
I gave that turtle (D) first place last week 🙂
So, my this week choice is “Two friends” from Photo E.
As far as I know, they are all different turtles! But who knows, I might be seeing the same ones more than once!
D! I don’t think you can get sick of turtle pics.
When is it that you go home? I am in New York for a few days in June!
I arrive back on May 21st and head directly to my sister’s graduation! I will probably Upstate for much of June, but I’m always in and out of the city… what are your dates?
How exciting, I graduate in July this year!
I fly in on the 4th June in the day and then I am off to visit friends in Phoenix a few days later, around the 7th- it isn’t long but I would love to meet, have a drink and chat about travel and blogging!
I’ll be in Toronto for TBEX until around the 3rd and then I think I’ll most likely be unwinding in Albany for the week after… but if things change and I am in NYC at any point then I will let you know!
E! Nope not tired of the little Terps! Hehehe. B is my second, and A is my third — such a quaint view to wake up to! =]
Thanks Kristen! It makes me smile so much 🙂
D!!!!! OMG it gave me goosebumps!
I know you love those turtles 🙂 That is a particularly good one though!
I love Photo B! I ran into a stingray being stealth like that today and he let me get right up to him. Awesome!
The stingrays here are actually super chilled out and will let you hang out with them for quite a while before they finally shake off and swim away 🙂
All worthy. First runner up – D, B and W can be so arresting as this one is. POTW goes to E. The composition is great but the juxtaposition of the turtle it his or her natural state and the human requiring all the gear to share the space says volumes, good and bad, about humankinds relationship with nature.Thank you for this beautiful gift!
I didn’t really think about it in that way, but I love it! Great interpretation, very thought provoking.

More colors and Deep Feelings.
Thanks
I do love the mood in those photos! Thanks for voting!
TURTLES!!!!did I ever mention how much I loooove turles??? =) So definitely always the turtles, so D and E!!!but I also have a soft spot for the pic on the left in C because that’s exactly what one of my last dives in Sri Lanka looked like. Shame girl you are too good I can’t choose!Btw my flights to Argentina are booked and I have a layover in Brasil, didn’t you say you want to go there?any chance you will be there in september???
Congratulations on booked flights! I definitely have dreams of being in Brazil in 2013-2014, but I don’t think it will be as early as September 🙁 Can’t wait to hear about your trip though!
Yet again Alex, truly amazing pictures. Thanks again for taking and sharing. I’m very envious of your morning view; it would be lovely to be somewhere tropical.
I am certainly being spoiled rotten by beauty these days! It will be a hard island to leave.
Photo e!!! I was so gutted i didn’t get to spot any turtles whilst we were snorkelling in Thailand so I fully understand the fascination! If I had seen one my camera would have been full of turtle snaps haha.
I can’t think of a place on earth I’ve been to where turtles are more abundant than they are here in Gili Trawangan! I highly recommend you make it over here for a snorkel 🙂 Second on the list would probably be the Cayman Islands!
I think I’ll go with A just because it speaks to me of the type of view I’d be quite happy to wake up to each morning. But, I really love the turtles too and the sting ray in stealth mode.
Island life is definitely the one for me 🙂 It will be hard to go back to waking up to any other view!
E !!!! Also love A..my kinda view most mornings too 🙂
Thanks for chiming in Carla 🙂
Hi!
I think im going to end up in Gili T at the beginning of April this year and I was wondering what you thought of the weather at that time of year? I know from an Indonesian perspective it’s the rainy season, but for an American is it really that bad? Thank you!
Hey Kari, the weather was lovely when I arrived in April. It rained at times but the showers were short — overall it was an amazing time to be in Gili. Enjoy!
