This week I had the absolute pleasure of visiting my mom’s new old house in Martha’s Vineyard. She somewhat spontaneously bought one of the Oak Bluffs “gingerbread houses” — as my sister and I called them growing up — after our trip last summer and has poured herself into the renovation process since. I can’t wait to do a full before and after post!
I loved showing Anders around one of my favorite US spots, and I was sad when our ferry pulled away. Now we’re in New York City and I’m trying to juggle playing tour guide, meeting deadlines and last minute preparations for my upcoming trip.
Oh and a quick note about scheduling. I know a lot of you are patiently waiting for Burning Man coverage. I’ve been very overwhelmed and intimidated to start writing about such an other-worldly experience but… the first post should be up this week!

Someday I’d love one of these Vespas to spin around the island on!

Which photo is your favorite?
Although I would also absolutely LOVE to be able to cruise around the world on a beautiful Vespa (Preferably Green, White, and Red stripped ones to support Italia), I still have to go with D! That’s an absolutely stunning picture!
Also, I’m semi-new so and this is my first comment, so I just wanted to say Great Job! Love the site! And I definitely connect to your “upstate NY vibe,” myself. 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment and kind words, Ryan! And it’s always great to hear from a fellow Upstate New Yorker 🙂
I love photo D, simply because I am a lighthouse fanatic. When I’m older, I want to travel the world and just visit lighthouses.
That would be a very scenic trip! And hey… that would make a pretty cool themed travel blog 🙂
Definitely photo B for my favourite! I finally got to visit this area of the US – and it was so gorgeous and pictures perfect! The little vespas everywhere are so cute too…
Martha’s Vineyard is my favorite 🙂 The whole area however is just so charming. It’s like stepping back in time! Glad you love it too!
Photo C !!!! What a capture!!!
Thanks! Glad to hear that jumping off my bike in the middle of the roadway and chasing after a seagull paid off 🙂

Thanks for voting… I think the crab disagrees though 🙂
Photo A! Can’t believe how quaint the house looks now considering what it looked like only a few months ago!
Liv, we need to talk dates! I want to overlap with you next summer!
Charming photo set! I have yet to visit Martha’s Vineyard but these photos seem to capture its relaxing, seaside essence. I’ll go with A, looks like a cozy space and her renovations look great!
Thanks Kristen! I’m hoping to do a full house tour soon!
I like the colourful photo best! I’ve never been to Martha’s vineyard, but it seems so picturesque… Definitely added to my list now!
I barely did anything worth blogging about on this trip, but next summer I plan to spend more time at the house and come up with some great posts for you guys. Sometimes it is hardest to write about the places you love the most!
Photo C! Well observed 🙂
Thanks Stef!
I like colors so I like Photo E! 🙂
Something about those buoys on a wall is a great decorating trick, and very popular around there. Who would have known! 🙂
Now, I’ve finished my readings! The whole blog! and I can say that I like it so much.
You’ve gone to incredible trips and have so much to tell us, and write in a way that really involves the readers.
Congratulations for “Alex in Wanderland”, you are doing an amazing job.
Aw, wow Carla I’m impressed and flattered! Thank you so much for following along, and taking the time to go through my archives! 🙂
Alex! I love the color in your shots! You have a very particular flavor. Yes, I think flavor is a good word for it. This week, I see it especially in the house shots (and the Vespas, too). It’s very bright, yet still soft and comfortable.
Do you use a similar photoshop action on a lot of your photos or maybe it’s just the way you color correct. Or, perhaps, is it that you just happen to often capture things that are naturally that way. …does this even make any sense? 🙂
I think if I had to pick a favorite for today it’d be A. Thanks for consistently maintaining such a solid blog/site!
Thanks Andy! I edit all my photos in Adobe Bridge and then some of them I open in Photoshop… not many, as I can be a little lazy! The left photo in A, for example, has a light action run through it. The rest in the post are Bridge edited only!
Thanks, Alex! I’ll have to play around with Bridge some more. Thanks also for being so communicative with readers in the comments; that’s quite admirable!
photo A. ‘cuz that’s my dream home x
Well Becky, it’s actually for rent for six weeks of the year (maximum amount allowed by the community!) so it could be your temporary dream home 🙂
