Reporting live from Peru! Well, just barely thanks to the expletive-inducingly slow internet connections in Iquitos. I arrived in the city after a cash-saving thirty-one hour, four flight journey, and then turned around and set off the next morning for the jungle. And deep in the Amazon, I found the perfect place to refresh and shake off travel fatigue.
Now I’m back in Iquitos for a few days catching up on work and life admin (why is it that dropping off laundry and going to the post office seem so fun in foreign countries?) before heading back out to the jungle. I am feeling fantastic. The stress I was feeling at home has melted off right with my makeup in this sweltering city, and I know I’m back where I belong — on the road.
One of the biggest requests from the reader survey was you guys want my posting schedule to be closer to real time… so look out for your first full Peru post coming up this week!

Which photo is your favorite?
PS: You guys know I can’t stand the sound of my recorded voice, but I did this interview with Nomad Capitalist and he was cool so I’m posting the link anyway. Find it here!
I like D with the little kid, cute. Looking forward to reading about your adventures in South America and the real time thing works better I think. Have fun!
It definitely does! However I’m doing so much all the time that it’s pretty impossible to keep up with “real time”, unless I blog almost daily and cut out all features such as Photo of the Week, book reviews, etc. It’s a tough balance…
Photo B Alex. I’m liking the look of the sloth.
Thanks, Steve! He was the coolest creature!
The sloth! How can we believe that we are so superior to animals when you can see the intelligence and emotion in his face? No need to reply, Alex, save your internet time!
Fine… all you get is this: 🙂
Photo b without a doubt
Thanks for voting, Emma!
Photo A,B or D. Super excited to read about your Peruvian adventures!!!
Thanks Breanna! Coming up on Wednesday 🙂
Sloth! Sloth! Although I love D as well, great perspective.
Thanks! I just loved that little boy with carrying his leaf around everywhere… way better than a gameboy, or whatever the kids are using these days 🙂
Photo B is crazy good!
Looks like there is a clear crowd favorite this week 🙂
I’m definitely voting for photo C, cause I did the exact same thing in Iquitos! I caught 3 🙂 I’m really looking forward to hearing about all your Peruvian adventures!
You go girl! I didn’t catch any, though to be fair I gave up pretty quickly 🙂
Photo D! Photo D! I LOVE it- such a great shot Alex! And yey to reading about Peru so soon!
Lucky for you guys I didn’t do much that was blog worthy in the past month… so that helped me catch up to real time 🙂
I love the Amazon region so much. Have never been to the Peruvian Amazon, but seeing those pics makes me want to go. My favoutite photo is the sloth. They are the cutest animals ever. They always look so content with life. Maybe I would too if I was sleeping so much and moved at a different speed in life. 🙂
They are one of those animals seems to have a perma-smile!
B! Not sure why but sloths have always intrigued me. They’re just so unique!
I had never really thought much about them but… I am definitely intrigued now! What amazing creatures!
Definitely B! Got to love a Sloth. But it must be so frustrating being one, it takes so long to get about!
Haha I never thought about it that way. They look pretty content though 🙂
For me it’s Photo B for sure coz I just LOVE sloths!!! So jealous you get to see one!
Close runner-up will be Photo D, what a great shot!
Thanks Katherine! The sloth was definitely celebrity of the week!
