Greetings from JFK Airport! I’m curled up in Terminal 7, reminiscing about how quickly this stateside stint blew by. I spent the last week in Martha’s Vineyard enjoying island time in the new family cottage my mom has been working so hard to renovate and I couldn’t have ended on a higher note.
Yesterday my sister asked me what I’m most looking forward to in the months of travel ahead and I struggled to find an answer. I’ve been so busy trying to enjoy life in the moment and get through all my usual pre-travel drama I’d almost forgotten to pause and be excited about all the adventures I have coming up. And now the day is here! It doesn’t quite feel real that I’m on the road again — I’m hoping it will sink in when the plane takes off. In the meantime, onto Photo of the Week.
Photo A
Sunset on a Taiwanese sail boat
Photo B
Life in a Norman Rockwell painting
Photo C
A beautiful island, by sea or by air…
Which photo is your favorite?
C… just gorg colors!!
Thanks girl! Photo on the right is actually from my iPhone, believe it or not!
I love the sailboat pictures! I vote for A. Good luck on your travels Alex, I can’t wait to hear all about them, especially TOMORROWLAND!!! I’ll be there in spirit!! x
I wish you were there in body as well, but I’ll take spirit this time π Remind me to tell you about a festival going down in El Salvador in February that I think you need to know about…
I love the lighthouse! I just stumbled across your blog today and I must say I really love it! I’ve been reading travel blogs for months prepping for my first trip to Thailand beginning next year and yours is one of the best π I’ve spent all day reading through your posts! Any advice for a first timer would be great π amazing blog!
Thank you Cara, that is heartwarming! Let’s see, advice for a first timer to Thailand… avoid the tuk tuks in Bangkok except for a short ride for a photo op (if you must), only take cabs that will go on the meter, pack a maxi skirt or lightweight pants for temples, and eat as much street food as possible! Have fun and enjoy π
Photo A! Looks like the cats isn’t concerned about the vicinity of the sea π
Nope, he was a full time resident of the boat π
It’s difficult to choose one as always but I think I’ll go with photo A..
Thanks Chris! I like to keep it tricky π
I am choosing C this week. Great aerial shot.
Thanks! My iPhone caught that one — impressed!
I like B….still feeling patriotic from the 4th
Me too! It must be quite the spectacle in Philly. Maybe have to do it there next summer.
I’m going to go for A…there’s nothing better than spending a day on a boat. And that cat! The idea of a cat being comfortable on a boat just brings a smile to my face π Love it!
Ha, he actually lives onboard! I didn’t really think before how that might be unusual for a cat…
A sailing cat? She’s gotta be my favorite π Have a safe flight and enjoy Europe!
I’m normally not a cat person but that one won me over π Thanks Dani!
I thought your mother got a cat, for a moment. Of course A, the cat! Ellis and I wish you a safe and happy journey. Look forward to your postings. See you in January.
Ha! I don’t think there is any fear of that anytime soon. He was a fun one though, living on a boat and all. I’m sure Ellis and he would have gotten along great!
Photo C- so pretty!
Thanks Ashley! The Vineyard gets me every time.
Toss up between B & C. B bc it’s the picture of east coast Americana, C because BLUE!
And they both just scream MV to me! Man I love that place…
I love C – very quintessential New England pics!
That’s what I was going for! Thanks Katie π
A, digging the photo of the cat…
I’m not much of a cat lover but this one was quite photogenic!
Photo C!
Love it! Thanks for voting π
I love cats, but photo B does it for me!
Just too adorable, isn’t it? π
Photo A – I love anything to do with the ocean. Even when it involves Cats!
I didn’t even think about the fact that cats aren’t usually near the water, ha. I guess I don’t spend too much time around them!
I vote C! And also… I just realized that even though I grew up in Boston and lived there 22 years, I have never been to Martha’s Vineyard. You make it looks quite pretty so I’ll have to eventually find my way there π
Oh, it is time to go! I hope you’ll love it as much as I always have. There are more MV posts coming up!
A! Love the sailboat kitty.
He was a serious trooper! Full time boat cat π
SIGHβ¦. another week we’re together and I’m not in photo of the week. I guess some dreams don’t come true!!
Anyways, photo c. UGH
Girl you need to get yourself in front of the camera in a creative way! The burden is on you! Try again in November π
It was almost an A day, but in the end, C it is! π
Looks like it was tight but C is the winner this week — thanks for voting!
AAAAA. I’ve been dreaming about going sailing for the longest now — it’s been ages for me!
It was an incredibly worthy splurge! Loved it!
Great photos! Especially the one taken from the airplane. Nice view though. Love it!
And best of all, that was with my iPhone. Love it!
Excuse me for stalking you back in 2014… But Alex, did you take these photos?! They’re really really good! They all keep my interest and have such vibrant colors and great composition. I am very impressed at your skills, especially since you are best known for traveling and diving!
