I had a conversation with a friend from the dive shop this week about my recent trip home, and I heard myself saying something that I had never really thought about before — at this point in my life, it’s the trips home that are hectic. Life abroad is when things even out and feel normal again.

It feels like a blessing to slow down and pay rent for a month and get a mini routine going again here in Gili Trawangan. As time goes on I realize how necessary these periods of stillness are in my life, especially as I’m gearing up for the next big wild adventure. Oh, did I mention I’m planning a trip? Sounds like I need to do another upcoming travel plans post….

But for now, onto Photo of the Week! This is my favorite collection of photos in a while. I’m feeling inspired these days!

PS: Please check out the short and snappy interview I did this week on Johnny Jet! It’s my favorite interview I’ve done in a while and I’m honored to be among such company. Great questions!

Thanks Skuli! It’s funny to find such beauty in such an ordinary thing, eh?

  • Photo C, cause the Mark Twain quote is one of my favourites 🙂

A is terrific – I want to know how the u-npatched hole in the wall came to be, what exactly is that hanging there that looks like a window and plants came make the most mundane scene look better….that said the view over the turtle’s back in D gets my vote…makes you wonder what it is like to be a turtle.

Diving gives you a pretty good idea of what its like to be a turtle… we’ll need to try it again sometime 🙂

All of them are beautiful and telling the stories, Alex. However, I would go with Photo B.

Yep, I can relate to that!! I’m definitely more relaxed and feel more myself traveling or living abroad than I do at ‘home.’ I have to go with the turtle, I absolutely love them and have very fond memories of snorkeling with them every day on Gili Meno, but I have never seen this unique perspective!!

I still haven’t made it over to Gili Meno! What a shame. Maybe I can convince Anders that’s how we need to spend his next day off!

I love the colours in B! The seemingly gloomy and grey sky with the pop of coulors from the boats and rainbow is beautiful. That said, I love the turtles-point-of-view photo, such a great perspective!

LOVE the rainbow and totally understand why that left a smile on your face. rainbows are the best (well besides unicorns obviously) but how can I not vote for a turtle?! especially with the cool perspective…so they both get my vote.

The Rainbow B is lovely but the Diver in me has to go with the Turtle D. One of my favorite sea critters.

Ah, I just love turtles as well. Seeing them underwater, how elegantly they move… they are magical creatures!
