Greetings from Brooklyn, where I’m currently struggling through a crushing case of jetlag and post-travel exhaustion. I will miss Asia as I move on to this next stage in my travels, but I won’t really miss the thirty six hours of door to door travel that it takes to get there.
Our final few days in Bali really felt like a dream. First, we checked into the Sheraton Kuta Beach to use up the rest of my SPG points, the results of my first attempt at travel hacking with credit card points (post coming up this week!) After hearing so much about infamous Kuta it was fun to see it for myself — and be able to retreat to the Sheraton oasis when it got overwhelming. Next, we moved over to Samabe to really say goodbye to Bali in style. Samabe is the brand new luxury sister property to the Grand Mirage, where we stayed at the end of our last trip. It’s a good thing this was our last stop, because it would be pretty hard to top having Wagyu steaks delivered to our suite to be eaten (private) poolside.Β Did that really happen? Now that I’m back to eating Mac and Cheese standing over the kitchen counter again it kind of does seem like a dream.
As usual, there are far more details to come! For now, onto Photo of the Week…
Photo A
Kuta’s surf culture
Photo B
I love a good welcome cocktail!
Photo C
Relaxing at the Sheraton
Photo D
We loved watching the parasailers pass overhead all day at Samabe
Photo E
The design of the hotel had me drooling constantly
Photo F
The fantastic food and presentation didn’t hurt, either!
Photo G
Take me back…
Which photo is your favorite?
Wow, best photo of the week in ages! (But I mean no disrespect to the others as I love your photography). Think I’ll go for D because of the perspective of the parasailers, sea and hotel (which looks insane!)
Thanks Yasemin! That’s wonderful to hear π Can’t wait to show you guys more of this beautiful hotel!
Photo C. I’m a sucker for a sunset shot
Me too! I posted that picture on Instagram as well (can you believe it’s from my iPhone?!) and it was my most liked photo ever!
Photo D is amazing!!! What a grand way to end a trip! Asia will miss you!
I will miss it as well! I hope to be back in one year π Fingers crossed!
All of the above! Yes please! So very pretty and pretty much how I envision paradise.
Agreed, Cat! Give me a beach and some sunshine and I’m happy. Throw in an infinity pool and I’m in Heaven…
Wow!!!! I was all set on the beautiful welcome drink, and then, I saw the others!!! I’m gonna have to go with the aerial shot (it seems!) of that stunning hotel! Welcome home π
I actually took that from the top floor (so only four stories really) of the east wing of the hotel! An unreal view, I concur!
I can’t pick! Photos D, F, and G are my favs. Looks like you had a GLORIOUS time! π
Don’t get me started! Okay, do get me started, because I have to write a blog post about this soon…
I enjoy your posts, but I have to say: It’s paragliders not parasailers π
Ah, thank you for the correction! I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t know there was a difference. Off to the Google machine!
D….I want to be there!!!!
I wouldn’t object to a return visit!
Was photo g your private pool? Incredible!
No, that was the main resort pool. Ours had the same view, but it was a tad smaller π
I will choose photo G because I feel the need for some relaxation.
Thanks for voting, Steve! Glad this gave you some virtual relaxation π
OK…… without a doubt my favorite picture is “photo C” …. great subject, content, and that’s the direction how I see my own life going.Take it easy Alex… jb
Thanks John! I hope it keeps heading in that direction π
Photo D! Love the intense blues- so inviting!
Bali is so beautiful and blue π Missing it right now!
While I am stuck on land I am totally drooling over this set of photos (as I was via IG that week)… what a perfect piece of paradise. Any of these photos could easily be my top choice…another one of my favorite POTW sets by far!!
After some heavy contemplation (and imaging myself in each of these scenes) I’ll say D! Great way of capturing the overall essence of this place… and the pops of parasailers give it some extra oomph
Thanks Kristen! Ah, yes… I could do with a little Bali right now as well π
