All of this week’s Photo of the Week candidates were taken at Bangkok’s Vespa Market. In some ways I felt I had been transported back to Brooklyn… the amount of fixed gear bikes and tattooed and pierced bored-looking Thais told me we had stumbled upon a hipster hotspot. You will be hearing much more about this new obsession of mine in the future!

I love this shot of a colorful array of juices available for sale. Thailand is the only place that I drink orange juice. It tastes like a completely different liquid here.

Hipsters selling hipster glasses. Love it.

This photo features vintage cameras, something I collect at home, but what I really love about it is the painted portrait of the King in the top right corner. No one is too cool to love the King in Thailand. I need to write a post about this at some point, because I’ve never seen anything like the adoration the Thai people have for the monarchy.

You know what to do… tell me which photo you think should be Photo of the Week in the comments!

In other news, I’m back in Koh Tao now and settling back into “real life” after the holiday hosting frenzy. I’ve been filming underwater videos again, working on more freelancing projects, and of course blogging up a storm. I found some time to write a guest post for Lost Girls World, where I am an editor, on The Design Lover’s Guide to Siem Reap. Check it out!

I love the antique cameras juxtaposed in front of the hand-rendered image of the King.

The link to Lost Girls didn’t work for me.

Hmmm, I just tested the link and it seems to be working now. Give it another try!

Photo C. The camera at a cock eyed angle reminds me of the Pixar opening sequence to their films….add in the portrait of the King serenley overseeing the display and it’s a winner. Even without knowing about the Thai monarchy you get the idea that he is an important dude to whoever set up this display.

Yes the King’s portrait featured in many of the displays at the market. I love the Pixar comparison… didn’t notice it before!
