Travel Quotes: Adventure
This month’s quote is short and sweet yet filled with wisdom.
Ever since I wrapped up my first year of full-time travel, people have been inquiring in a round-about way when the heck I’m going to settle down and get a “real job” or perhaps a permanent place of residence. While I appreciate that these people are well-intentioned — and maybe they just want me to get off their damn couch — I have no intention of settling down anytime soon. That year didn’t get anything out of my system… it just made me hungrier for many more like it.
And just like choosing to have a high-powered career or choosing to have a family or any other deliberate life path… so too is the life of travel and adventure a valid choice. Adventure is worthwhile.
What adventures are you looking forward to right now?
Amaaaaaazing shot, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are SO inspiring, don’t listen to others who think or say otherwise.
Thanks Andi! I have a similar shot on my promotional postcards, I love it!
Wow – what an amazing photo! And I love the quote too 🙂
Thanks Hannah! There are many more like this on my post about the sand dunes in Mui Ne, Vietnam. Such an amazing place.
I am looking forward to the adventure of my last year of NYU! Between my jobs/classes/positions on campus, I still find adventures within my routine.
You are one of the busiest people I know!
What an ace photo!! I agree with you that choosing travel is a lifestyle choice and a valid one at that. Just envious of your courage to choose it!
Thanks Scot!
I am off on a new adventure in Philadelphia….not as dramatic as your life of adventure but most guys my age are checking a new barcalounger.
Ha, I can’t wait to come visit.
I’m looking forward to finding another amazing volunteer opportunity that will mash up my love of travel and writing…
I bet something will come up soon….
stick it to the man!
Live it up because time is short and where only young once.
Yup, as all the kids are saying…. YOLO! (You Only Live Once, ha!)

Sounds like quite the adventure, Sarah! Wish him luck for me!
I’m about to leave on a year long trip around the world! (starting in Mongolia)
Wow! What an exotic destination to kick things off with! Congrats!
Agreed! No need to say more. 🙂
Thanks Cat — appreciate the solidarity 🙂
Ask those people if they’re happy settled down or in their “real job.” I’d bet that most are not and are simply jealous that they don’t have the guts to do what you’re doing.
While, while I do know there are tons of people who would love to travel but don’t know how to go about making it happen, I also think there are tons of people thrilled with their careers, families, etc. Everyone has a different path… just have to find the one right for you!
Love this shot! Did you add the quote on in Photoshop?
It’s from Mui Ne… I’ve got a whole post of them 🙂 Yes, quote added in Photoshop!
That picture looks crazy!!! The clouds look like they belong in a cartoon. LOL at the thought of people assuming that since a year is up, you’re all tuckered out from traveling.
Yeah…. no “gap year” for me…. more like a “gap life.” Ha!
