I’ve been blogging up a storm lately, and so this travel quote caught my eye immediately.
“A traveler without observation is a bird without wings.” -Moslih Eddin Saadi
Writing about travel has forced me to become more observant, more inquisitive, and more reflective. In part, I see this blog as a gift to myself; something to look back on and remember how lucky I’ve been to explore the world. I hope that as long as I am traveling, I am doing it with eyes wide open, observing everything.

Do you have a big journey coming up soon? Tons of your own past travel observations to share? If so, I encourage you too to make your own website to share photos and stories with family, friends, and the world!
I couldn’t agree more with what you’ve said. Travel blogging has definitely enriched my travels, however I do think there are some travel bloggers who blog too much and miss out on the wonders of traveling since all they are doing is sitting at their computer.
It’s true, it’s all a balance. Personally that’s why I enjoy writing about my own travels (like you do as well) and not top ten lists about places I’ve never been… but I also try to write the same kind of writing that I enjoy reading.
Yeah, making my own website this year as opposed to being on wordpress.org was one of the best things I could have done.
I think having a forum to share your photos and stories really helps you when it comes to traveling. You look for more I believe and you tend to hold on to a conversation a little longer, try another bite of something that doesn’t look or smell too good, take a walk down a path that isn’t as paved, etc.
It’s nice to think that as I long as I keep paying for my domain, years from now when I have kids and they are teenagers, they might look at what I wrote and fly, err, teleport to that destination.
Hmmm, if I have kids someday I might delete some of my posts so they don’t have anything to hold against me π Just kidding. But I do agree that sometimes I push myself a little further than I otherwise would have with the excuse, “It’s for the blog!”
