Greetings from Iceland! I arrived only a few days ago and already I have amassed hundreds of photos. It was painful to narrow it down to just a few! I have fallen head over hiking boots in love with this country and since the moment I stepped off the plane I’ve been scheming my inevitable return. Onto some eye candy and a taste of what is to come!
Photo A
The city of Reykjavik is visually overwhelming. I can walk but a few feet without having to whip out my camera.
Photo B
Within a few hours of getting off the plane, we were soaking in The Blue Lagoon. We arrived as it opened and had the place almost to ourselves. And no, I’m not naked — it’s a strapless top!
Photo C
Icelandic horses are beautiful and genetically unique. Riding one was a fantastic way to see a little bit of the countryside.
Photo D
Yet another way to explore Reykjavik’s surroundings: by bicycle! The sun does not set on Iceland in the summer, and this photo was taken around 9pm.
Photo E
These last two photos don’t really go together but I couldn’t resist sharing them (my blog layout really doesn’t allow for vertical photos). On the left is the Blue Lagoon in the full swing of tour group madness, and on the right is Harpa, Reykjavik’s brand new waterfront performing arts center.
Which do you think should be Photo of the Week?
I love the picture in C of the horse silhouette… Awesome!
Thanks Rachel! I love when I just look down and see a perfect photo like that 🙂
A. Love the colors and it tells me volumes about the scale and character of the City.
I’ve never been anywhere like it! Very Scandinavian.
I am SOOO jealous! I can’t wait to read your posts so I can start planning my own trip!! I like photo B. 🙂
Maybe I will come with you on that trip… I can’t get enough of this place, seriously! I have spent my entire time here hunting for an Icelandic spouse so I can get residency and move to Reykjavik!
I know first hand that Iceland is addictive. Go there once and you are sold.
I hope you enjoyed the bike ride!
Greetings from Holland and say hi to your mom 🙂
Hi! Glad you found me! 🙂 We loved the bike ride and got tons of great photos. Just a preview here!
Nice pictures, I think photo A should be the Photo of the Week. Nice composition with the stairs and the colors. I am curious what Iceland looks like underwater.
Wow, it’s a tough choice this week Alex – these are all incredible! I love them all equally but if I have to choose one favourite I’ll go for C purely because I love horses. Great work 🙂
Thank you so much Hannah! The horses here are really fascinating. They are very purebred and have no immunity to outside diseases that if an Icelandic horse ever leaves the country, he can never return. Isn’t that so poignant?
Obvi B
You’re just saying that because you took it. Or did mom?
D. its so wistful.
I love that adjective Annie, and it really describes Iceland so well!
I love them all but photo A is my favorite! You don’t hear enough about Iceland!
Sarah, you’re going to be hearing a lot about it on here soon 🙂
Definitely B. Those waters look ethereal!
They really were! There was a tiny bit of steam coming off the water, which just made it look heavenly.
Amazing pictures! I prefer photo B. Symbol for relaxing.

Hey Rob, glad to see you here! 🙂 Thanks for voting x
What a beautiful place. I plan to visit this summer as well. Thanks for sharing!
I hope you make it, its such a magical place! Much warmer than I ever would have imaged as well. Hit 70 degrees yesterday!
I like photo B, it looks magical, like you’re surrounded by pale blue clouds.
Thanks for voting, I love that picture as well!
I’m going with A this week, although they are all great! I can only imagine the hundreds of other great pics you have!
I’m definitely going to have an editing marathon when I get home! Normally when I travel I try to edit as I go but this trip has been way too busy.
I vote for all of the above! My favorite colors are of the turquoise/aqua/sky blue flavors so you nailed the photo of the week options for me. But, I am drawn to the rooftops and lagoon photos the most. Iceland looks amazing. Is it as “expensive” as it’s rumored to be?
So glad you liked them! Iceland really is amazing and it hasn’t been hard to take a million photos. Unfortunately I think this is one of the priciest destinations I’ve been to. Lucky for me this is a family trip and my mom is footing the bill for 99% of things. Still, one crazy night out drinking and treating my mom and sister to massages at the Blue Lagoon set me back a month’s rent on a bungalow in Thailand!
Good grief! I was so caught up in the blog, I forgot to vote??!!?!? Cast mine for B , please!?!??!?!
Vote cast 🙂
I just added this to my ever growing bucket list (sigh)
Iceland deserves top billing 🙂 If you haven’t, you should check out my full feature posts from Iceland!
