There’s no denying that this new festival fetish of mine is quite the expensive hobby. But what can I say? I’ll hostel hop for months and play the credit card points game all day if it means that once a year I can splurge on a magical experience like Tomorrowland.

While costs will of course vary wildly from person to person, I know that when I’m planning for a big expenditure like a major European music festival, I like to have at least an inkling of what’s coming.

So exactly how much does Tomorrowland cost? This post is my own personal euro for euro breakdown! I decided not to include flights into the total because first, Tomorrowlanders fly in from over 200 different countries, meaning that figure will be largely irrelevant, and second, I flew in from one European country and out to another and enjoyed a bit of Belgium along the way, as this was part of a much larger trip. However, here are some of my best tips for scoring great flight deals.

Tomorrowland

Essentials

Ticket: €237.50 or $300

Tickets are available in a few different packages. Day passes are 88/$111 each, while a Full Madness pass covering all three days of the festival is €237.50/$300. Comfort passes, which all access to seperate viewing decks, are 165/$208 per day or 437.5/$552 for the Full Madness comfort pass.

The week before the festival we panicked wondering if we should have splurged on comfort passes and tried fruitlessly to find a way to upgrade. In the end I’m so glad we didn’t bother — we never felt we were missing out.

Next up, read about how to get those damn tickets!

Tomorrowland 2014

DreamVille Camping: 525 or $661

This was, obviously, my biggest expense. We chose to splurge on camping in the Dream Lodges, and it was our best decision of the festival. The cost included four nights. Camping at the Dream Lodges was a such a big part of my enjoyment of Tomorrowland, I can’t imagine my experience had we done another direction.

Next up, read all about camping in Dreamville!

Dreamville Dream Lodges Tomorrowland

Ticket Fees: €56 or $70

When it was finally time to check out, there were surprise “service costs” of €8 per person, “payment costs” of  23 per person, and “fulfillment costs” of 25 per person. So in total we paid 56/$70 each in ticketing fees. While the “service costs” fee is clearly stated on the Tomorrowland website, the other two were not — build them into your budget.

Day-2_16

Tomorrowland Shuttle: €27 or $34

As Boom is not exactly a booming tourist destination the rest of the year, getting there is not so straightforward (see what I did there?). Taking the train from Brussels or Antwerp involves a transfer, though Tomorrowland does arrange free shuttles from the Boom train station to the festival grounds.

As Heather was flying in to Brussels late on Thursday and we were anxious to arrive to the festival as quickly as possible, I met her at the airport and we took Tomorrowland’s shuttle to the festival. The price was for a round trip ride to and from the airport.

Day-2_37

Day-2_39

Day-2_38

Supplies

Campsite Food and Alcohol: €48 or $60

I spent €48/$60 on food and alcohol to bring into DreamVille. While we didn’t plan to cook, a stash of apples, bananas, nuts and granola bars went a long way, and our array of booze and mixers was a much appreciated break from the overpriced drink stalls inside the festival. You can bring anything into DreamVille except glass, meaning all alcohol had to be transferred into plastic bottles ahead of time.

While we couldn’t get a clear answer on this leading up to the festival, there was drinkable water at the campsites. All water coming out of the sinks in the bathroom areas was clean and safe to drink, which saved us a ton on buying the bottled stuff.

However, any water or drinks you buy in the festival will be handed to you with the top off to encourage you to drink faster and thus consume more. I collected a few bottle caps in the days leading up to the festival and always had a few on me in my back pocket.

Day-3_35

Costumes: €75 or $95

Considering my hefty collection of costumes and dress up clothes, I didn’t have to add to much to prepare to go all out at Tomorrowland. Back in the US I spent $62 on a festival-ready backpack, a patriotic headband and flag top, and the obligatory flower crown. Unfortunately all those items, along with dozens of other beloved camping and costume items, are still missing thanks to the Belgian postal system.

Once I accepted my box wasn’t going to show I ran out and bought a pair of €8/$10 rain boots and 18/$23 worth of emergency accessories at Claire’s in Brussels. I ditched the rain boots but assuming (praying!) I get my box back, this whole category is an investment in future tomfoolery.

Day-3_19

On Site Purchases

Tokens: €165 or $208

When we purchased our tickets, Heather and I each bought a 50 Booze Bag containing 25 tokens and surmised it should last us most of the festival. Ha! It did not.

But at least you get value for what you are buying. Tomorrowland is known on the festival scene for its gourmet food and we were impressed by both the variety and quality. Each token had value of €2, and inside the festival mixed drinks cost 5 tokens, sodas and soft drinks cost 1.5 tokens, cheese toasties cost 2.5 tokens, and a meals like a pulled pork roll from the Texan BBQ stand or a noodle stir fry from the Asian booth cost 6-10 tokens. A great list of food and drink prices for 2014 can be found here.

We ate breakfast in our tent each morning with the food we’d brought, and pre-gamed with our own booze in DreamVille before entering the festival at night. Otherwise I didn’t really make an effort to restrict myself in this area and happily indulged in overpriced strawberry mojitos and frozen yogurt galore.

Day-1_11

Splurges: €77 or $97

I had a few fun splurges along the way. I treated Heather and I to a bottle of champagne at the Bubbles with a View bar overlooking the main stage for 36/$45, I treated myself to a Tomorrowland t-shirt for 35/$44, and I made one trip to the oxygen bar for 6/$8. The t-shirt I could have lived without, in retrospect.

Day-2_23

Total Cost for four nights:
1,210 or $1,525 per person

While there are those who spent half what I did and those who spent triple (hello Global Journey guests!), I’m fairly certain Tomorrowland comprised the most expensive four days of my life. I knew they would be though, and I’m grateful for both the experience I had and the fact that I’m at a point in my life where I can make a massive annual splurge on something like this.

That said, I hesitated to post this breakdown. I had a few commenters that were shocked by what I spent on Burning Man last year, which was the same amount for more than twice the time. But alas, I’m owning this one — I had a killer time, and annoying mysterious fees and drunken t-shirt purchase aside, I don’t regret a single cent. [Update: Turns out Tomorrowland Brazil is even more expensive!]

Was that more or less than you expected? If you’ve been to Tomorrowland, please share your own experience in the comments below!

All in all I don’t think that’s too bad. As long as you had a great time that’s all that matters. Sometimes you gotta splurge!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Yup, it’s all about balance! This was my splurge of the year, and it was a well worth it one.

  • Ashley | Ashley Wanders
    October 8 2014

The tickets are actually less expensive than I would have guessed. $1500 really isn’t that bad for a once in a lifetime splurge!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Considering the amazing amount of pyrotechnics alone, I suddenly understood where the ticket costs came from. Heather and I kept saying, “this is like a million dollars in fireworks!” Ha.

      October 17 2014

Same! For what it cost you overall, Alex, I’m kind of surprised the tickets were less than 25%. Then again, all of the festivals I’ve ever attended like Bonnaroo don’t charge extra for the lodging, so I guess that’s what surprised me most about the cost breakdown.

Also, $1500 still isn’t THAT bad for a “massive splurge”…maybe by travel blogger standards but not in the “real (non-blogger) world” =) I think you did great! Just think that you’d be spending that lump sum alone solely for rent if you still lived in NYC…

    October 8 2014

So worth it! This year I splurged on a ski trip to Switzerland (and I mean SPLURGED) because it was a childhood dream. Totally worth it!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Skiing is one expensive hobby I’ve managed to avoid falling for so far. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time, though!

  • Let haters hate. You spend your hard-earned money where you want to!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Thanks Emily! I think it’s more of a shock factor for those who aren’t used to the festival scene. Once you’ve gotten over the shock of the first one, it’s much easier to justify the next!

  • Katie
    October 8 2014

I’m not surprised by the total at all, I blow through a decent chunk of change at festivals for only a few hours. They’re all expensive! I imagine a giant once-in-a-lifetime festival would be expensive, but that’s not really as bad as I would have thought! Looks like you had a blast too!!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

We did have a blast indeed! Luckily these days I am all about spending my money on experiences. Not buying much physical stuff leads lots more cash to make memories with.

Thanks for sharing this! As a frequent festival goer myself its sweet to see what other people spend, and especially at a festie I’ve never been to but would like to attend! You did a great job on that one haha that’s a good price for all that and in another country! Just reading it makes me miss sleeping in a tent! 🙂

    • Alex

Well I didn’t include my international flights in here 🙂 But you are so welcome — this is the kind of resource I was looking for myself when I was researching.

I am shocked (SHOCKED) that you bought a $45 bottle of champagne and a t-shirt…….. this doesn’t sound like you.

me thinks there was a drink or 2 involved before you swiped for that champagne bottle, maybe?

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

The champagne was actually pre-purchased before I even stepped on the festival grounds! I was swept away by the promise of picture perfect mainstage views and full on bubbly baller status. (The t-shirt I was totally drunk for, though.)

you know what? after 3 weeks in ibiza, i have no right to judge. NOT A SHRED OF ENTITLEMENT, I tell you! i paid $15 USD for a small bottle, i’m sorry THIMBLE, of water. when 3 of us grabbed coffee at a nice hotel, we nearly cried over the $42 USD bill. & the best one — a friend made the rookie mistake of ordering 2 double vodkas at a club…and left the bar $110 USD lighter!!

when things are that expensive, you’ve just gotta laugh. and if you’re paying through the teeth for something, you damn well better not let stress or guilt hamper your enjoyment!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Oh my lord, Ibiza is like the most expensive place on the planet. I’m sad to say that when I was there I let stress over money really overshadow my trip. These days, I’m with ya — just laugh. But at the time I was so… not broke, but so not earning literally any money that I just could not enjoy it. Didn’t make that mistake at Tomorrowland 🙂

      • becky hutner
        October 10 2014

laughing off crippling expense is easier said than done. like i said, nearly cried over coffee.

    October 8 2014

Ah Alex thank you so much for all this tomorrowland info! It is one of my dreams and even though it is a splurge it’s great to have everything laid out there so nothing is a hidden cost. Then I know what cash I need and accept the cost before I go instead of being upset when you get there with costs you didn’t know about. It seems a pretty top notch festival in terms of facilities and organization and that’s always worth paying for – I LoVe dreamville too. Glamping for the win! Look forward to every last post you do on this gig!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

So glad this has been a helpful series, Tessa, that’s what I was hoping for! From the minute I started planning I knew I’d be writing tons of info-packed posts. I just couldn’t find that much useful information out there. It makes me happy to think these posts will be resources for future travelers.

    Hey Alex,

$1500 for such a huge festival doesn’t seem bad at all…especially the dreamville tents!

    • Alex

Those were the euros most well spent of all 🙂 It truly MADE the festival for us!

  • Rika | Cubicle Throwdown
    October 8 2014

I had guessed it would be around that amount, and given all the loveliness and shenanigans you guys got into there, I’d say well worth every cent!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Yeah, this seems about average to me. I think a lot of attendees probably spent around this much but it was just allocated differently — being lightweight ladies I think we spent less on food and drinks than average and more on accommodation.

  • Maybe this series will persuade the next year’s festival to foot the bill for you! That would certainly make it all worthwhile! I bet lots of your readers are making plans for Tomorrowland 2015 🙂

  • Sarah
    October 8 2014

I attended Tomorrowland this year and definitely spent more than you did so I’m impressed!! I used a lot more tokens and I was a global journey traveller but all in all every cent was definitely worth it!!! I still spent less than I thought and am planning to do it all again!

    • Alex

If I may ask, how much did it cost you with the Global Journey thing ?

  • Mats
    October 8 2014

18’000kr (SEK) about 1’800€ for global Journey from Sweden with own tent and alcohol and good and everything =)
    Worth it!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Definitely worth every penny (or euro, or kroner :)) Thanks for sharing!

  • Justine
    October 8 2014

That seems about right. I mean, festivals are notoriously expensive. And considering you chose to upgrade to the Dreamville tent and indulge in a couple drunken purchases I’d say you didn’t do too badly! Plus, this is something you’ve dreamed of doing so the cost seems worth it to me 🙂 Kudos on bringing your own food and alcohol in. I’m sure that helped cut costs. Well played!

    • Alex
      October 8 2014

Yeah, our food/drink costs would have EXPONENTIALLY higher had we not done that. The breakfasts in the Dream Lodge village were ridiculously priced — and I much preferred a lazy start to the morning in our tent 🙂

    • Alex

    October 9 2014

I missed the music festival scene by about 20 years but me at your age wouldn’t have blinked twice at that cost. Looks like so much fun but I doubt a 40 something mom of two would fit in. I’d be at the O2 bar 24/7!

    • Alex
      October 10 2014

Haha, I love the mental image of someone coming to Tomorrowland and spending the whole time at the O2 bar in DreamVille 🙂 Burning Man was an example of a festival where there truly were people of all ages. Tomorrowland skewed a bit younger, though.

What a good tip about collecting the bottle caps before- I would never have though to do that! It all cost a lot but I’m not surprised at all. Festivals are getting so expensive- it totally sounds worth it though! Looking forward to your post about how to get the damn tickets-everything sells out so fast! I think Glastonbury sold out in 27 minutes just recently and that’s about 8 or 9 months in advance of the actual festival weekend!

    • Alex

Yeah, Tomorrowland sells out just as quickly. We got really lucky with tickets, as my post will explain 🙂

True Life: I’m Addicted to Festivals. Same here! I ALMOST went to Tomorrowland when they released more tickets and sent me a link, but I had just been to Secret Garden Party and I was going to Burning Man a month later (I’m sure you recall how pricey that is). Also been to Coachella and EDC a few times and I don’t even want to think about what I’ve spent. It’s all for enjoyment. 🙂

    • Alex
      October 10 2014

So glad you did end up doing this post! I recently broke down two weeks in Europe which cost me over $4,000 — didn’t want to scare away my readers who are mostly very beginner travelers, knowing I had splurged a bit, but I think budget details help tremendously. Great times!

You know what I love about this most?

You’ve not put a cap/price on your enjoyment, and just gone with it!!

Sarah and I have adopted a similar thought process with our current trip.

We’d much prefer to occasionally spend that little bit more and do everything we want, and if it means we go home 1 month early, so be it.

At least we’ve enjoyed it all to the fullest! 😉

    • Alex
      October 10 2014

Great post Alex. As an avid UK festival goer im now breaking out and have started visiting more European festivals..went to Mysteryland in Holland this year and it was awesome and Tomorrowland is most definitey on my list for next year, although i guess i better start saving :/ looks well worth the splurge though!

Just as a tip if you like those sort of ‘falling down the rabbit hole’ style fantasy festivals then Secret Garden Party in the UK would be right up your street…amazing and pretty cheap in comparison 🙂 check it out http://www.secretgardenparty.com

  • Wow! I know festivals are expensive but that is more than I thought although you definitely did it glamorously. I only spent about $200 more for 10 days in Fiji including flights. I wouldn’t personally spend that much on a 4 day music festival but its your money and if it makes you happy then go for it 🙂

    • Alex
      October 14 2014

Ooooh, I like hearing that Fiji is more affordable than I thought! Maybe that will be my splurge next year 🙂

Tomorrowland was an insanely fun experience I won’t be forgetting anytime soon — now that the sting of the price has faded, I only have the happy memories 🙂 Good luck getting there!

Awesome post!! I have a question: is it possible to get your own camping tent and reduce the costs?

    • Alex
      January 5 2015

Absolutely, Gami! Though you won’t have access to all the facilities we had in the Dream Lodges, general camping is a much more budget friendly alternative. You can find out more in my post here! Hope that helps.

    Hi Alex,

Loved the detailing. I plan to go there in 2015.

A quick question – The Dreamville package comes with a Tomorrowland pass or do we have to buy the pass separately ?

    Cheers,

    • Alex

Dreamville packages do come with a Tomorrowland pass. Good luck Saahil!

Hey Alex, I’m Hisham From Libya !!
in my country we do not have a zip code or house address. So it’s impossible to receiving my bracelet from here..

Q: Can I get my bracelet at entrance or help desk ?? please answer me asap !!

    • Alex
      January 10 2015

Hi Hisham! Unfortunately I am not sure about that. We had our bracelets shipped to my friend Heather’s parents’ house in the US since she lives in the Cayman Islands where there is also no home mail delivery. Maybe you can have yours shipped to a friend in another country? Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Hey alex , thanks for sharing the info . It is really usefull . I have some quick questions .
    1) Is Dreamville acoomadation worth the money or going thru airbnb is a better option ?
    2) If we want to buy thru dreamville should we buy the tickets in the first phase along ie along with global gourney or can we buy with general sale ?

    Thanks in advance .

    • Alex
      January 11 2015

Hi Vinod, I didn’t speak to anyone who did an apartment rental so I can’t really weigh in on that option. However, I absolutely LOVED staying in Dreamville and thought it was worth every penny! And if you are doing Global Journey (from what I understand, as I did not do Global Journey) you will purchase your accommodation as part of that package, whether you choose Dreamville or a hotel. Best of luck!

    January 13 2015

are the dreamville lodges worth the extra?

    • Alex
      January 15 2015

Well, considering I called it my “best decision of the festival,” I’m going to go with yes 🙂 If you want to read more about the Dreamville Lodges you can read here. Good luck!

    January 14 2015

    Hey Alex,

    This is very helpful.

    Just one question:

When purchasing the package for TL were you able to pay in installments or was it all upfront? I know for Brasil you are able to pay in installments so was hoping this was the case for Belgium.

    Thanks 🙂

    • Alex
      January 15 2015

As far as I know we were not able to pay in installments. Sorry!

Did you AND your friend have to pay 600 to stay in one tent? Or was the whole tent 600

    February 6 2015

What an amazing post! May I ask you, If i were to just get a day pass of Tomorrowland(not planning on staying), do i still need to purchase a Dreamville ticket?

    • Alex
      February 6 2015

Nope! Plenty of people attend Tomorrowland and don’t camp in Dreamville. Enjoy!

  • AJ
    February 8 2015

    Hey Alex,

Do you know if the shuttle you took from the airport is the same one that Global Journey tickets holders take? I’m just wondering how the experience was and whether or not they permitted alcohol on board/stopped for bathroom breaks. Me and a friend just bought the GJ flight package with comfort passes from Canada. Can’t wait!

And thanks for the great info!

    • Alex
      February 9 2015

Hey AJ, nope, these are separate from the Global Journey shuttles, though they appeared to be the same buses — we just waited in different lines 🙂 We had alcohol on board that we were bringing into the camping but we didn’t try to drink on the bus so not sure about that. No bathroom breaks but it is a pretty short trip from the airport to the campsite. Hope that helps!

      August 28 2016

      Hi AJ,

I am trying to find out information about GJ from Canada as I would like to attend 2017! Can you please let me know any tips/tricks recommendations you would have? I was trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to book my own flight then do a GJ from a closer location? Let me know!

    Hiii!!
Awesome blog!! I have a question: how much cost the locker? I have noticed that it isn’t written.
    Thanks in advance 🙂

    • Alex
      February 12 2015

Hey Gami, as we had lockboxes in our Dreamlodge, we did not use lockers — so I’m not sure about the cost. Sorry I can’t be more helpful!

    February 16 2015

    Hey Alex,

you said u brought ur own booze and mixers to the camping site. Is there a possibility to cool down your drinks or did u drink warm drinks during the festival?

    • Alex
      February 16 2015

A few times we were able to ask for ice and got it from the bar staff. Unfortunately they do not sell it anywhere in Dreamville or Tomorrowland — a huge mistake I think! Our tent neighbors went into town to try to buy some too and came up empty.

      • Daniel
        February 16 2015

Hey thx for your answer. How far is it from dreamville to town? If Ur neighbours wenn to town to buy ice, isnt it possible to buy Drinks there everyday?

        • Alex
          February 17 2015

I suppose you could, but why not buy from Brussels and bring with you? There is sure to be more supply and cheaper prices, and you won’t have to leave the grounds to make the walk (believe me, you won’t want to once you are there :))

          • Daniel
            February 18 2015

    February 16 2015

    Hi Alex,

is it not possible to go to a supermarket in the city of boom? this year will be my first time at tomorrowland and on google maps it looks kinda close. But noone ever mentioned this and thats why i wanted to ask you if u know the distance from dreamville to the next supermarket.

    Greeting,
    Thomas

    • Alex
      February 16 2015

Hey Thomas, we did not go, but our tent neighbors did — they bought mixers and juice and such but sadly they did not sell ice! We brought lots of snacks in from Brussels though.

    February 18 2015

    Hi Alex!
I’m from Brazil, and me and my friend are crazy have a Tomorrowland experience. The tickets are in the most sold out right? I’ve found some tickets but the cost is kind of twice of the original price. Is there any way to get tickets with the original price? Or if You know a person who wants to sell passes, I’m crazy for that. Thank You

    • Alex
      February 24 2015

Hey Henrique, please be careful buying tickets second hand, especially over Facebook! (I removed your profile URL from your comment for your privacy.) Viagogo seems to be the best bet but I have heard negative stories about them as well. Again, just be careful!

    March 27 2015

Hey Alex! Sounds you like had one big time!
Also, I must say that you’ve no idea what impact your writing has on me right now.. I’ve already told myself that I have to attend TL once in my lifetime no matter what.
Okay, what I’m about to ask might sound inappropriate.. But I’ve no idea of where else I might have to ask to get the right info.. During your time of stay in dreamville, was there a restriction on usage of any controlled substance? Like green. If you know what I’m saying.
I’m going to be flying a long way, and it’s impossible to take the stuff along.. I’d like to know if there’s access to it in there? Thank you so much in advance.

    • Alex
      March 27 2015

Hey Ethan! Glad Tomorrowland has made it onto your bucket list! The festival grounds themselves are fairly strictly controlled. There are amnesty bins, drug sniffing dogs, security checkpoints, and major no-drugs signage. The campgrounds are much more laid back. I’m not a smoker so I wasn’t seeking it out and can’t comment on availability, but I don’t think using would be a problem — at least in our area the security team was laid back and friendly with us, there to make sure we had a good time and not enforce restrictive rules. From what I observed, party drugs like MDMA were pretty widely available. Have fun and stay safe!

    April 5 2015

I’m also from New York and I was planning on going to Tomorrowland in a year or two so I was wondering how much you paid for plane tickets and also how much the dream lodge costs for the 4 nights. Are ticket prices included in the price of the dream lodge or is that extra?

    • Alex
      April 6 2015

Hey Rachel, I actually flew from New York to London one way for about $400 then flew London to Malta and then Malta to Brussels, and then Brussels to Athens 🙂 Because I didn’t do a traditional round trip flight to and from New York, I didn’t include it in this calculation. The rest of the figures you ask for are outlined clearly in this post. Good luck!

Alex! Thank you so much for your post, I was really stressed about how much I’m going to spend during this days. When you mentioned Global Journey yep! May 26 2015

    May 26 2015

    Hi Alex!
First of all, I love your blog! =D
I just read all your articles about TL, and I must say I am so excited to get there!
I am living in Belgium, and I have been trying for 4 years straight to get tickets. And I finally succeeded this year =D *happy dance*
But I am a little disappointed that the fiancé did not want to splurge on the glamping option. I HATE camping (and that was the only option left..). So I am thinking that I might try 1 night, and go back and forth with my car between Boom and Brussels (where I love), just for a hot shower and a real bed =D
But I’ll keep all your recommendations close when I’ll get there!
    Thank you for your article!

    • Alex
      May 28 2015

I don’t blame ya… glamping was the way to go 🙂 I’m sure no matter where you stay, you’ll have a great time!

    May 27 2015

Hey Alex, I loved your blog. With the details you’ve shared, it doesn’t get better than this.
I, my wife and a couple of friends are going this July, so just have a couple of questions:
    1. Since you mentioned that stores would run out of supplies in Boom, should I prefer buying supplies for Dreamville from Brussels and then come over to Boom?
    2. Approximately how far is Dreamville camping area from the festival area?
    3. I have opted for Easytent at Dreamville. WOuld I still be required to pay the ‘Random’ fee you mentioned?
    4. Did the amount (Euros 165) you mentioned for buying tokens sufficiently cover the food and drinks for all 3 days within the festival? Of course, you had booze and some supplied in your camp as well.

Looking forward to your reply. At your convinience please 🙂

    Cheers!

    • Alex
      May 28 2015

Hey Vivek! Enjoy Tomorrowland! To answer your questions…

      1. Yes, that’s what I would recommend.
      2. Depends on where you are camping. Dream Lodges and Relax Rooms were the closest, under a ten minute walk. Easy Tents a little over ten. Standard camping, anywhere from fifteen to thirty.
      3. Those fees were mysteriously added when we paid for our tickets and camping. Look closely at your receipt — you probably paid for them too.
      4. Yes, we had booze and snacks in our camp. I spent 165 euros, which sufficiently covered me — how much you spend will of course depend on how much you like to eat and drink.

    June 9 2015

    Hey!

I would just like to say…thankyou! Like you have mentioned before, trying to find out any detailed information or reviews on Tomorrowland and the experience in detail is ‘pull-your-hair-out’ frustratingly difficult! This is just what i’ve been looking for.

Me and a friend are going this year 2015, we booked Global Journey from London (no reviews I can find sadly) but we are in Dreamville in the Dreamlodges and we are sooo excited.

PS about the money – it is expensive but in my opinion you can see why and any festival goer knows you can’t put a price on such experiences! Our trip so far has cost £1200 for everything not including spending money when we get there…but I don’t care I will probably never get to do it again so i’m splurging away!

    Not long to go now!

    • Alex

Im trying to save up for next years tomorrowland and i was wondering how much the plane ticket was or if you did the global journey package was the cost included with the dreamland cost?

    • Alex
      June 28 2015

Hey Emery, the plane ticket price will of course vary based on your destination. I recommend using a search engine like Kayak or Skyscanner to estimate what you’d pay for a flight to Brussels. Best of luck!

I’m flying festival Tomorolnd Belgium. Do you have any tips on what to watch out there, what to wear? Thanks Alex

    • Alex
      July 20 2015

Hey Yossi, when you say “what to watch,” do you mean what sets to see? I’m not sure who is on the lineup this year, but the Tomorrowland app is really handy for downloading and sorting the lineup by stage, time, artists, etc. As for what to wear, my best advice is to check out all four of my Tomorrowland posts and check out what people are wearing in the photos. We had an array of costumes and some bright and breezy festival wear. Best of luck!

    July 25 2015

Loved reading all your tomorrowland stuff

Just on the tokens can they be used anywhere or just food and drink
And what places can you still use your card
What happens if you have leftover tokens (I’d keep one for a keepsake)

    • Alex
      July 26 2015

I’m pretty sure they are just food and drink. When we bought t-shirts we paid with credit card. I had a few leftover tokens and yes I kept them for a souvenir. Hope that helps! 🙂

    July 25 2015

I just want to know when you buy your madness ticket does it go straight to ask what kind of camping you want? And can you buy 2 tickets at a time so you know your friend is gonna be in the same canopie.

    • Alex
      July 26 2015

The Dreamville packages include two tickets. You actually cannot buy one for just one person! Hope that helps, I know the system is a little confusing.

First time stumbling on this review and your other “Dreaming of Dreamville” Planning on a trip with my girlfriend maybe 2016 or 2017 Tomorrowland, Thank you for this. It may have been asked in the comments already but couldn’t find it (sorry if I am asking again) but your total cost I will assume is per person not for you and your friend you went with? I’ve heard of tomorrowland years ago and always wanted to go. I think I may just pull the trigger this coming up year or next and charge it with my reward point. It’s either that or taking my girlfriend first time to Disneyworld.

    Hi Alex.

Thank you for all the info on you blog, its very appreciated. 😀

You and others talk about bringing food into DreamVille. Is this completely allowed, of did you have sto sneak it in?

Do they search bags or not?

I also loved your suggestion about the bottle heads, ill be sure to bring them! ^^

    Thx again,
    Youtar

    • Alex
      August 15 2015

It is totally allowed, as long as it’s not in glass containers. They can search your bags looking for glass. Enjoy!

    September 10 2015

Alex, hello I have a few questions for this magical experience. I’m 18 years old, I plan on going to Tomorrowland within the next year.

Can you stay in a hotel close to Tomorrowland or do you have to purchase the whole camping?

How much is a tomorrowland ticket itself?

I happen to know someone who lives in Belgium which I would stay there and just having to pay for the ticket itself and plane ticket which I know would be so much cheaper. My dads girlfriend actually can get like a low rate to any country.. Not sure how lol but I was just wondering if it’s allowed to stay at a hotel or wherever else

    Thanks,
    Kaitlyn

    • Alex
      September 10 2015

You can indeed stay in a hotel and purchase the Tomorrowland ticket separately. Many people chose to stay in hotels or elsewhere. Enjoy!

  • Lindsey
    September 10 2015

Is the camping price per person or was that total?

1500$… man that sounds scary lol
I know it’s worth it right? It’s my dream to go there since I discovered this festival.
I’m saving money for the 2016 edition, hope I can make it.
Though, 1500$ is way out of my league (If I may say…), I’m planing on spending around 600€ (that’s like 700$ or something) MAX. What do you think guys? Is it enough at least to have fun and the best 3 days of my life?!
    Thank you!!

    • Alex
      October 13 2015

Depends on where you’re coming from and where you’re staying. At that price you’d definitely be in the general camping. I know plenty of people who’ve had a blast back there!

    November 24 2015

    Nice blog!
What were your thoughts of the General camping area, vs the dream lodge tents? I would be a bit concerned about valuables and random people snooping around my tent… How much could you fit into the lockers?
Oh and also what would happen if you refuse to pay those crazy random fees?
Thanks! I can’t wait to go!
    Carlos

    • Alex
      November 25 2015

Hey Carlos, you can’t refuse the fees — they are added into the ticket price at checkout. I mention them so that others aren’t surprised when their final checkout price is different than the one they’ve been seeing listed elsewhere. I was in the dream lodge tents — check out the posts I linked to in the camping section for a full review.

  • Kristof Verboven
    November 25 2015

I was scrolling trough the comments and noticed a lot of questions on the handling fees. They are standard in belgium, ticket sale is handeled by a 3rd party, and that’s why there are handling fees. Btw, to all the people wanting to know pricing etc for 2016: check the website early january, thats when more info is released.

    Greetings from Belgium

    • Alex
      November 26 2015

Indeed — they are pretty standard in the US as well, clearly I just didn’t do a very good job explaining them 🙂 I do wish they were clearly outlined before you got to the final checkout page, though.

Okay so my questions are for an American Male wanting to go in 2017:

What’s the difference between the lodges and the dream vile camping? I thought you only needed the camping pass.

Also – how much was the flight over?

    • Alex
      April 26 2016

Hey Jordan — there are several different camping options, some of which are luxury ones where the tent is provided and others which are basic and you bring your own tent. I suggest you consult the Tomorrowland website for more details — I explained it the best I could in this post 🙂 I spent an entire summer in Europe and then onward to Asia so I did not fly in directly to and from Belgium from the USA. A quick flight search will give you much more info on that than what I spent on my many one way flights a few years ago!

Hey I am going to tomorrowland in 21 days and I am curious how many ‘pearls’ you think that I might need to purchase for the festival… This is the new cashless currency and you put it on the bracelet.. Anyway, 65 pearls is equal to 100 euros or 113 us dollars. I have 440 pearls or roughly 800 dollars on my bracelet. Do you think that is enough to bring? All Pearls unused are valid for refund. Thank you I am more than excited to go!!!

    • Alex
      July 7 2016

Hey Jeffrey! The only guide I can give you is the information included in the post above on what I spent on tokens, which was $208. That was enough for me, but if you are a heavy drinker or don’t bring any food or alcohol to the campsite you may find otherwise. Have a blast!

Nope, not this year 🙂 I have my eyes on a few other festivals though — and I’ll be covering The Brazilian version of Tomorrowland soon, so stay tuned!

I went to Europe during the recession in North America and had found good paying job in the fashion business in London. After 4 years, I came home with $250 but money was well spent at parties, booze, music, girls, sex and explore the world and the human race, I had lived four years in paradise. You only live twice.

    July 29 2016

Hey, I just came across as I was looking back at tomorrowland photos of this year. I just went to the festival this year and I am interested at your cost break down. We did the global journey package staying at a 4.5 star hotel in Brussels and had flights from Barcelona and ours cost $1350 USD each. Is the special camping in dreamville more expensive than hotel costs? It was by far the best thing we’ve ever done!! No words can explain!

    • Alex
      July 29 2016

I didn’t price out hotels because I always knew I wanted to stay in Dreamville but it may indeed be cheaper. I loved staying onsite so much though I wouldn’t have traded it for anything!

    July 29 2016

Although I didn’t add in the extras we put on our wristbands which was an extra $200 over the 3 days!

    • Alex
      July 29 2016

Yes, loving the new wristband system. Just used it for Tomorrowland Brazil! Posts about that coming soon.

Hi Alex, thank you for sharing this with us! I want to do Tommorrowland in 2017 and stay in a dream lodge. Did you have to pay for the ticket and dreamlodge all at once? Are they separate? If so is it best to get the tickets first?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Natalie xx

You have no idea how much your blog has been preparing for me and my boyfriend’s trip to Tomorrowland this year! We want to end our festival life with a bang before we settle down, buy house, ect… I have literally read every words of you blogs 30 times. I am just trying to see our best option for traveling right now, when I look up flights from Miami we are looking at about $1,350 per ticket. Thank you so much for all the great information, you are truly amazing. 🙂

    January 14 2017

hi i just came across your blog, myself and two friends are planning to go to tomorrow land this summer and i was wondering if we got one two person easy tent and then bought a pass to get into dream land would we all be able to sleep in the tent ? or this there only certain times your aloud in dream land with the pass?

    • Alex
      January 15 2017

Hey Katie, unfortunately no you won’t all be able to share it. To my understanding the Easy Tent tickets come with special wristbands and only those wearing them can access the area. Of course you might be able to switch off wristbands if you wanted to sleep at different times but I can’t imagine that would be ideal. Good luck!

    This blog was so helpful!
Is the price you listed the same for all countries?
Also, do you have any tips on the best way to ensure tickets to the festival?
Its been mine and my friends dream to go to Tomorrowland for so long and we finally have the bank to do it 🙂

    • Alex
      January 31 2017

Hey Lauren! I have tips on how to get tickets in this post. Hope it helps! Yes, the price of the festival is the same unless you qualify for the special Belgian resident prices.

If my friends and I buy multiple spectacular easy tent packages, how do we make sure our tents will be together? Is it assigned after purchase or first come first serve when you check in?

    • Alex
      June 27 2017

Hey Kate! If they are like the Dream Lodges, which I assume they are, then they are assigned as you check in. They just fill them out from front to back (you don’t get to choose.)

    Hi
    Need some help
Am going to tomorrowland this year yeyy!!

Need answers to a few questions please

The supermarket they have do I pay cash or on my card ?

    Is their at ATM ?

    AM from England
Do I bring pounds and euros plus whatever I have on my bracelet?

I understand the festival is cashless ? Bt will I need cash for shops ect ?

    • Alex
      July 6 2017

Hey Tash! I haven’t been to Tomorrowland Belgium since they went cashless but I assume it’s like Brazil, and yes, there is an ATM where you can get cash and use either that or a card to refill your bracelet. I didn’t bring any cash into the festival, just used my cards. I think the only thing we needed cash for was the oxygen bar in Dreamville. Enjoy!

Thank you for breaking it down! My range of what I thought it be was roughly $2000 just for being there not including the airfare and transportation fees. Looking at going next year and planning ot out woth a couple friends here in the U.S. Tomorrowland is on my bucket list of places I will get to visit and experience.

Hey Alex, i want to surprise my boyfriend and buy the tickets for the tomorrow land, so i have some questions to ask, did u reserve in advance for the tents? • Andrea
    November 1 2018

Hey Alex thanks for sharing all of this! looks like so much fun to be honest. Do you think it is dangerous in any way for someone who just turned 18? I am thinking of going there next year with a friend 🙂

    • Alex
      November 6 2018

Hey Andrea! The festival itself is super safe — lots of security around, very rigorous entry checkpoints, etc. But the camp grounds definitely get a little crazy. Just chose your camping spot carefully — somewhere heavily trafficked and near a security booth, I’d propose — so you feel comfortable. Enjoy!

    December 29 2019

First time leaving the US and its planned for tomorrowland. Would my debit card work to buy tokens or the bus pass? I have sprint, how is phone service? Is there reentry from your campsite to TL? If i take my own alcohol in plastic and get the dreamville package can I take that into TL as well or would it be allowed only in dreamville? Thanks this will be so helpful

    • Alex
      January 23 2020

Hey Ernest! I don’t see why a debit card wouldn’t work, though I used a credit card. Cell service can always be tough at busy festivals where the networks are overloaded. You can pass freely through the campsite to Tomorrowland, you just have to go through security each time. You CANNOT bring alcohol into Tomorrowland from Dreamville. Hope all that helps! Enjoy your first big adventure — and do some exploring while you’re out there!
